Creature concept i thought of for a Vilous fan fiction me and a team are working on.
This thing is huge. Size of a blue whale. I figure, this is perhaps THE grand daddy of all "housepeckers". Surprisingly agile despite its size. It has a large snail like mouth full of shredding shark like teeth, jaws that bloom like a plant. A sea anemone like portrusion on its back. These are in fact its reproductive organs. It's body has segmented mollusk like shells, it can contract and stretch its body like a cat, to leap, bound and move swiftly even through dense forests.

The idea, A young Rain Silves who just took over the Silves clan, goes on a spirit quest in the forest. She meets several other forest dwelling hunters and warriors. Many of them immediately do not like her, at all. But... as part of leadership training, she has to work that charisma and learn to unify and work with them.
Defeating a creature of this ferocity... needs such teamwork, and a unique approach that only one as brave as Rain could pull off. How does she do it?
Teamwork, leading the Khiliska through a trap.... and then.... her special touch that only her intuition saw.

3:00 Setting trap, massive tree trunk cut, laid, ropes laid here and there.
3:15 Entire team working, lifting trap between two cliffs.
3:30 Rain seen navigating woods... she sees creature in a valley. Very close up shot, she is realizing this is her first true test, she takes one long slow breath, eyes grow focused. She flings a large knife, it spins and clacks off of Creature's shelled back. Quick frame of its many Talyxian shaped eyes glowing and noticing her.

3:50 Creature following surprisingly fast, leaping and bounding
3:55 Trap is sprung, Rain leaps to avoid it. Massive trunk swings and creature stops, stunned.

Upon victory, one says, "She's going to do some great things... or, terrible things.." another replies, "perhaps both".

Why is raining attacking such a large creature head on like this? A unique approach that only she foresaw.
