A manticore is a mythical beast with the head of a man, body of a lion, tail of a scorpion, and three rows of teeth like a shark.

they are said to have voices that sound like a chorus of trumpets.

they also eat human flesh.

this is a couple of panels from the graphic novel i'm working on entitled "FLUPH".

in "FLUPH" the manticore serves as Tempest's personal guru who lives in an underground library beneath the city. he gives wisdom and advice when needed. he also enjoys stale scones and weak tea.
