Otter? Looks more like a stoat perhaps- but either way he would make a nice villain in redwall- would be refreshing to see an evil otter- his books have become so cookiecutter sadly. :(

I haven't read them in ages, sadly.

you've not really missed much- they all have the same basic storyline, just with different chars. Otters, mice, squirrels. hares, badgers always the goodguys. Weasals, stoats, foxes, etc always the badguys. Insert 1-3 feasts that sound so good you get hungry reading about them, martin the ghost warrior divinely guides the redwallers in defence of their home while another group of youths quests somwehre abroad, everyone except the enemy is happy in the end. Rinse, Lather repeat. :P Still love his feasts- now I'm hungry.

... that would be pretty much why I haven't read them in ages.
