Repost from deleting it a while ago. <strike>I lost the original, it was either stolen, it's mixed in with my crap somewhere in my house or I left it somewhere. I'm sad. D:</strike>
Edit: Found the original, it's safe in my portfolio now. :D

Yeah, the original (as always) looks way better in person. Also, since it's 100% colored pencil, layered on as thick as it is, it tends to get wax bloom on it if you don't seal it right away. What I'm gonna do is try to wipe the wax bloom off and put a coat of matte sealant on it before I put it up for sale.
Perhaps, but the scanner I have is kinda low end.
There's a copy/mail store just up the street that charges a nominal fee for digital scans. I should just take all my stuff and get it all put on a disk for archival and make prints from those scans. I bet their machines would do a much better job than mine can.
With this drawing I eventually want to make the background all black, then sell some limited edition 11" x 14" prints of it.

Well, you're probably right, rescanning it would be best. That way you get the highest possible dynamic range.
You can do a lot to clean up scans with a photo editor tho, like Photoshop, or the Gimp. I took a quick look and it appears your scanner's black level isn't calibrated properly. Maybe have a look at the scan settings? here is a quick go at changing just the black level, compare it to the one above:

Hope you don't mind, just an illustration. I'll take it down once you've seen it.
