EDIT: Made a small alteration to the bass line.
There's a story behind this remix. Decades ago, when I was playing Blaster Master on my NES and reached Stage 7 for the first time, I was playing the game on an old television set that didn't always have the best sound quality. I'm musically sensitive, but that still wasn't enough to properly hear this song's bass line, semi-drowned as it was. But the square waves and percussion came through loud and clear. So as I listened to the music, I imagined the catchy melody was in the key of D minor. Later, when I replayed the stage with better sound, it turned out the music was actually in A minor, giving a completely different, less interesting feel to the song's melody. So, over the years, when this music would occasionally return to my mind, I still imagine the song in D minor.
So I decided to finally capture something close to how the music has sounded in my mind all these years. First, I went into 0CC-FamiTracker and sequenced, as closely as possible, a perfect replica of the original song the way it actually was in the game, in A minor and everything. Next, I made a copy of that completed replica and started replacing the bass line with a new bass line of my original imagining. The result is this remix.
