Sadly, the last living Quagga died in 1883, so they're a pretty recent loss. I've see the stuffed one at the Field Musuem in Chicago. They were beautifu :(

Yup, the Quagga Project is cool beans:) I know they've had some success but have not seen any pictures of the results yet.

I think they're talking about getting DNA from Quagga hides to bring 'em back with Horse surrogate mothers.

Actually, DNA from Quagga hides has proved that the Quagga was a subspecies of Plains Zebra and not a seperate speices. There is a group trying to breed them back and is having some success I understand. Here's hoping!
