Matthias Colors Colonel Adekar
My third, and for now final, coloring is of a very old character of mine and for a very old commission of mine from
ChrisSawyer, that of Colonel Adekar of the Markath from 2001 ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1828518/ ). The Markath are a semi-aquatic dragon-like race who had mastered the stars and found Earth in the midst of a new Dark Ages. They brought humans into their galactic empire and are trying to help humans get back on their feet, although they maintain key military and political control over the planet and how it interacts. Colonel Adekar is the military commander there, tough and resourceful with a great admiration for his charges, even if at times he finds humans mystifying and their zeal counter-productive. He oversees the first military ship captained by a human who was going to be the main character.
One of these days I'll figure out how to make the story happen.
I went with a blend of green colors for most of his scales, but I use some blues and yellows on some of his scales; I'm rally pleased with the effect! The frills on the back of his head can change color and position to show emotion; the aqua blue is one of contentment. The deep green ridge along his back is photosensitive which is why they always leave it exposed. I am not as keen on the color for his uniform, but I'm not sure what else I could have done there. Still, I'm quite happy with his look and hope one day I can use this setting again.

Nice! The uniform, I personally think it looks a little bit too much like a leotard than a uniform, though I'm not sure if that's more due to the color or the lack of touches further down than the shoulders, but perhaps he just needs a belt with some accessories. I think for me it just looks 'incomplete' as a uniform.
That sounds about right. If I ever have this character done again I could request a little bit more accoutrements on the uniform. I haven't even read any of the writing I did on this in a very long time. I hope I can still even open the files I created back in the day (around 2000). They're all WordPerfect files and I don't know how to open them anymore.

The Markath uniforms are supposed to be form fitting; it comes with their ancestry as water dwellers trying to escape aerial predators, loose clothing gets in the way and makes you slower; must go faster! And yeah, the Ab Master... that I think is a function more of the artist than of the Markath necessarily!
It seems that Microsoft Word can open those files easily; I just managed to re-read the first chapter. Good memories, even if I'd do it completely differently now.
