Part Three of the Races of Telluria. Now we're getting into non-core races.
Gnolls are a widespread race of hyenafolk. They are nearly universally hated, and not without reason. Their reputation for murder, rape and pillaging is not unfounded, though certainly not all Gnolls participate in this behavior. After the Great Gnoll War, which saw half of the continent sacked and burned, some gnolls are attempting to integrate into society. Those that have tried are often relegated to slums and endure verbal and physical abuse due to their species' role as aggressors in the war.
Ibidian Gnolls are a tragic subspecies of gnolls created when a band of cruel elves kidnapped the pups of a kind band of gnolls and raised them in slavery, breaking their wills and bending their minds to servitude. They are now possessed of an innate urge to serve others, even when not under a master. This leads free Ibidians to pamper their friends, and drives ibidian adventurers to acts of altruistic heroism.
Dreadnauts are a race of living armor. Their essence is a glowing spirit that is bonded to a suit of armor by a crystal. Their origins are unknown, but rumor tells of a kingdom whose king turned all of his knights into living armor so that they could serve him eternally.
The Avani are a reclusive race of birdfolk who gave up their flight in exchange for phenomenal magic powers. They metabolize food directly into aether, allowing them to fuel their truly mighty spells. Many of them sport obvious pot bellies, and their leaders, Magi, are often downright fat. Any unused magic is excreted as solid aether, puzzling those that live below their mountain home.
Gremlins are mischevious technological geniuses. They are always thinking about what they can do and never about whether or not they should. Because of this, their race has created some truly spectacular marvels of technology... and built up a surprising tolerance to explosions. Their home city is a clockwork tower whose layers turn independently of eachother.
Kobalos are a race of cowardly, timid rat-like creatures who are drawn to tunneling and mining as a pass-time. They are diligent workers, but they are easily dominated, leading many to take advantage of their natural aptitudes for their own personal gain.
Kobolds were created from Kobalos by dragons to protect their timid cousins. Some have let their dragon blood go to their head, however, leading many to abandon their posts are protectors.
Angmain are mysterious and gaunt creatures with unnaturally elongated bodies that seem to appear from nowhere in towns and cities with no memory of their origins and possessed of an insatiable hunger. Some towns have simply disappeared after the appearance of one of these creatures, as if consumed by the void. Rumor has it they are created through some dark ritual, but to what end?
