Brewery: Founders Brewing
Name: All Day IPA (Session Ale)
Style: American IPA
Origin: Michigan
Bottle: 19.2 oz can
ABV: 4.7%
Appearance: a lovely, deep cider-like gold with champagneesque bubbles and a fluffy layer on top that looks like some old fashioned vision of dreamland.
Pours: a disturbing shade of dark yellow that would give a urologist night terrors.
Smell: the unmistakable and distinctly piney smell of the hops in an IPA.
Taste: At first, pine, wild greenery, mountain vistas, clear running streams, and John Denver. However at the end it starts to go a bit atonal, a bit flat and medicinal.
Mouthfeel: lively, vibrant, possibly even crisp. Wouldn’t exactly call it sharp though. Later on it loses most of that liveliness and replaces it with a sense of laurel-resting nostalgia of half a can ago.
Rating: 6.8. Starts out as a 7.8 but loses something as time goes on. I’d say this works best at a 12 oz size. Any more and it goes from “Yeahh!!” to “Yeah yeah yeah.”
