I thought you'd go with the idea of him being a criminal, considering previous pages.
But nope, random magic. This chapter managed to damage comic as a whole not once, but twice already - first with how long of a drag the start was, now with this.

Hi hi. Big fan of your work. love your art and cant wait to see what will happen next with the Twins.
Thought I would make at least one comment/ prediction regarding the story.
Tell me if this is close or perhaps totally out there. XD
Is it possible that this is actually taking place a few days in the past? (Before the twins get to see the Orca)
My thought is that, because Eric is shoving Dick into this light, he is teleporting him to another place.
that this event is actually in the past. (a flash back of sorts)
My reasoning behind this is Dick's swim trunks. They are the same orange flower shorts that the drowning guy had. Both are Seals and aside from the shirt and jewelry they look the same.
My thought is that this is the possible reason as to why the mystery Seal ended in the water and has no memories of the Twins. That this light will teleport Dick to the sea and most likely mess with his head some. XD
Plus why would you get in the water if you don't know how to swim?
Unless you have a darn good reason to or you were thrown/forced in.... i'm guessing.
