Here we have a scene from the fanfiction I have planned for Mikey and my OC, Roger. This is a rather important scene... because its where Roger first falls in love with Mikey.
I'm still working out the details of how this comes about, but suffice it to say, Roger ends up owing Mikey a favor, and the roo, while out skating, notices a new sign outside The Hangout, announcing a karaoke event that night. (I'm not sure if there really would be any karaoke held at The Hangout, but I figured Tyrone would be the type to hold such an event in an effort to draw more potential customers in.)
So that's how Mikey decides Roger must pay him back: he must stand beside the roo onstage while Mikey sings. The roo reassures the GSD that he doesn't have to sing himself; just stand next to Mikey the whole time.
Now the reason for this is because Roger once confided in the roo that he hasn't been able to sing in public for 3 years, all because of a rather traumatic experience he went through. However, because Roger did sing for Mikey when they were alone together (it was to thank him for something; haven't decided what, yet), the roo knew that the GSD had a beautiful singing voice, and thought it a shame that he couldn't bring himself to perform.
So Mikey decided to see if he could help Roger get comfortable singing again by getting him up onstage in front of an audience. Roger was a showman, after all; he believed in always putting on a good act. And what's more, Mikey figured if Roger still couldn't sing, then the roo would drop the issue and let it go. Otherwise, the GSD would be able to share his gift with the world again.
Thus came the appointed hour, and both college students went to the college bar (they already had fake IDs, thanks to an earlier incident) and signed up for karaoke. And wouldn't you know, quite a few people were there, including some of the cast from "Class Menagerie" and "i.s.o." Several people got up and sang. Some where good, some were... not so good... others downright terrible...
...And then it was time for Mikey and Roger.
The song Mikey had chosen was "Mad World." It was a pretty low-key song, and thus seemed like a safe choice. Also, I imagine the version being the same one from "Riverdale": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQBpz89sPwE
For the first half of the song, Mikey sang it alone. Roger just stood there, silent and still, looking like he'd like to be anywhere but here on this stage...
"Children waiting for the day they feel good..."
And Roger began to sing, too. Mikey then became the quiet one as he gazed proudly at his roommate, though for a few parts he acted as backup vocals. For the first time in 3 years, the GSD sang in front of an audience, his beautiful voice practically caressing the ears of his listeners. As the song wrapped up, the duo onstage ended up singing the final lines together...
...and by the time they sang the final "Mad woooorld..." not only was the whole room applauding, but Roger was gazing at Mikey. Completely in love with the roo. x3
