LUMINAHI REMAKE! Pt.1
Part 1 of 3!
My followers on my INSTAGRAM account have already seen these one by one much earlier, I only decided to upload them as artdumps here later. Instagram seems better for work-in-progress things.
BIG DETAILED INFO COMING UP!
As you may know, I've declared that my graphic novel is dead. For several reasons. Clear lack of support on my Patreon which I used to have for over 2 years, me realizing it's not gonna be worth 700 pages for a real copy sale when the existing 50 pages didn't do well either, then there was a serious down in my private life as well, yadda yadda...
Eventually, I've finally come to embrace this feeling that's grown inside me for a while: I badly need to do a remake of the graphic novel, it needs a fresh start! I've put too much effort into the story and characters to just drop it. But just like I've grown and changed over the last 9 years, my art and stories have too. So in a way, I'm actually grateful my first try didn't go well, because now I can change things without any consistency pressure. The main core of my story will remain the same, I'll only do few minor but important changes. For example:
- Changing all my fantasy anthros into real animal anthros.
I got tired of being asked what Senanca is supposed to be, which is a totally reasonable question. His design makes no sense when many others are clear animal anthros. I need to harmonize this universe. Senanca, Vorac, and Marvin are fantasy anthros and the first characters I've designed for the story before I started using real animals for inspiration. If I allowed fantasy/mixed breeds to exist, any species would be unrecognizeable after few generations of active social lives and become confusing mutants. Like a walruss-flamingo-crocodile-ladybug-toad-wolf. Who then marries a parrot-snake-bee-newt-monkey-penguin, and then they have a baby that's a mixture of all these things.
So I'll go with the lazy "whatever species DNA is dominant in the embryo" excuse if two breeds make a baby.
Senanca, which was inspired by cats-goats-weasels, was gonna be a sphynx cat. But then I got introduced to cornish rex cats via Instagram and thought it was a better choice because I wanted him to keep his beard and hair. Cornish Rex are like sphynx but with a thin layer of curly fur so it looked more natural. He did keep his pink eyes though because I find those important.
I know I could have just chosen a goat anthro for Senanca because of the beard. But the Christian religion currently dominates this part of the world, and it would have made this main character of my mafia story too obvious if he straight looked like Satan. Senanca is subtle. He wears glasses/contacts because his eyes are bad, he enjoys bookkeeping like a nerd, loves manicure and hair care, and gets overly excited about indoor decoration and carpet shops. What the fuck kind of cliché bad guy does these things.
Marvin, which was inspired by lions and horses, just became a young lion (whose mane isn't fully grown yet). First I was against this because two felines in a world where I want anthro diversity is uncreative. But then I realized Senanca and Marvin are godfather and godchild, created through family connections, and makes harmonious sense if you look at it scientifically. Haha.
Vorac was inspired by vultures and eels, but he looked more vulture-like. Now he's a Himalayan vulture.
- None of my anthros have tails, wings, fins, etc.
I want them to be human-like from the neck down as far as anatomy goes. Exceptions are hands and feet, they may be more animal-like if it's convenient for the character's daily life.
- The bat spy clan gets to have more bat diversity.
Because I've only drawn flying foxes and a vampire bat so far. Which is boring. More bat species!
- Nilrem's name gets changed to "Nill".
I found the name "Nilrem" in some cheap fantasy names list and derped so fucking hard, I did not realize it's simply "Merlin" backwards. And it annoys me now.
- The title/Senanca's business name gets changed!
The word "Luminahi" was inspired by the English word "luminous", as in "glows in the dark", because traditionally a sex business is shown with a softly glowing red light. But I realized too late that it sounds too much like "Illuminati" which means "the bright/enlightened ones" in Latin. Yay, languages. And this annoys me too.
Still thinking about the title. A simple title that doesn't reveal names of the characters, only mysterious hints. So far I got "Luminous cage" unless I get another inspiration. But Senanca's "Luminahi" will probably be called "Club Luminous" or something.
- Anthros are the "humans" of this world, wild animals and pets will be fantasy creatures like small dragons and shit.
Though many of those fantasy animals are either endangered or hunted into extinction, because my anthros are the humans of this world and do what humans do to wildlife.
- There's probably gonna be porn-y scenes here and there but nothing violent.
My story doesn't focus on porn, it focuses on scenes behind things. However, a story about mafia and hookers will be more believable if I include that content more!
- There be female, male, and also trans/queer/fluid/neutral/tofu/helicopter/insert-Tumblr-slang-here hoes working for Senanca, with diverse sexual orientations for diverse customers.
Senanca is a professional businessman aiming for maximum profit. I thought it made more sense that way. Plus, I don't want the story to seem like it's about oppression of girls. Everyone gets fucked. Mafia bosses don't care about your genitals when you're a tool. Sally is still the main-alpha hoe though, because she's grown on me and gets involved in the story's ending too. :[
- The environment/city/inventions will be mixed between old-fashioned and science-fiction, creating a more fantasy-styled world
because I'm too lazy to look up which historical and cultural things happened when. So I can draw random shit as I please.
- Swear words won't be censored anymore
because frankly I don't give a fuck anymore.
- I won't do German-translation pages anymore
because these are quite time consuming on the long term. Other people can translate my pages into their first language and upload them if they want. As long as links to the original pages are given, and as long as they don't make money with it. My comic will be a free-to-read webcomic too. I don't think I'll open a Patreon for it but I may sell things like stickers and shirts, I don't know. I do plan to make it a real comicbook if I get a large enough audience after many pages, and thus a good argument when I talk to publishers. Publishers are no risk takers, they won't sell what won't sell.
And if this second try on my graphic novel project doesn't work out either, then OH WELL TOO BAD I GUESS! ¯\_(°ᗜ °')_/¯
That's all for now. More changes may or may not occur!

I can only whish you the best on this new fresh start and my total support for it. If you ever need donation you can count on me. I just can't wait to see your amazing (and improved) art in the comic. As for my opinion I think the name "Luminahi" sounds amazing and mysterius, I think that's why it fits so well with the place. Also more bats, yay! And of course porn is always welcome!
Thank you very much!
I also kinda have a nostalgic connection to the word "Luminahi" but I got tired of getting feedback about "is this illuminati/sounds like illuminati". That's why I want to change it. ^^' I also don't want people to think it has anything to do with illuminati, and over-analyze everything and see triangles in everything I draw, haha. My story is about itself, not something else.

Thank you so much! I may still draw old-design Senanca outside the graphic novel once in a while. c: I got a nostalgic connection to it.
There was actually a legit meme phase about "I identify as apache helicopter" for a while (you can google-image it). That's why I wanted to bring it up again. xD There seem like 43.984 genders today anyway, why shouldn't there be helicopter gender somewhere.

Does he? :0 I tried to make him look like an old cat by adding the white whiskers and some wrinkles here and there (plus, white whiskers are more visible on black fur). And his cat breed makes him appear more skinny and fragile than other cats.
My bad. I mean he's not supposed to look like a 100 years old, but still like a 50-60 years old which takes good care of his health. Human years, not cat years. xD

I saw this on another person's (furson?) faves. Quite the interesting world you're building/have built. Interesting characters too. I can't remember the last time I've seen an anthro mandrill and this pleases me (because I'm too coward to draw one myself).
I'm curious though...this is a mafia styled world and there'll be nothing violent? I really want to know how you'll portray that (I guess the violence can be off-screen so to speak but still...).

Thank you so much! ^-^ I'm glad you like my designs, even the mandrill one. I find diversity important, and giving some less common animals a time to shine~
I encourage you to draw as many different character designs as you please, too. c: You're not a coward, you only need to do some self-searching.
And yes, there's definitely going to be lots of violence in my story! I just won't draw most of its details, especially things like rape and other torturing actions. I'm much too sensitive for this kind of pain to spend many hours on it. ;-; I already feel sick watching documentaries about WW2.
