I actually tried to go to a 5am Black Friday sale once... scary! There's a great bit in a Jerry Lewis movie 'Who's Minding the [Department] Store?' with a stampede of shoppers descending on poor Jer' when they open the doors for a big sale.
I'm told nowadays you can get BF specials online; sounds a lot safer.
