She's got floaty magalor hands.
I'm still thinking about how her story would go. Here's a first stab at it:
* 2159: The diamonds try to start a new colony in the Sol system but are surprised to find that humans have developed starships and built alliances. They are drawn into a conflict, which is defused when Pyrite disobeys a direct order to destroy an opposing vessel.
* 2255: Pyrite's crew, attempting to reverse-engineer a transporter in a stolen Starfleet ship, accidentally kidnaps a Vulcan child named Tolek. Pyrite takes care of him for a while until the Shenzou is able to retrieve him.
* 2283: Tolek is now serving aboard the Enterprise, which detects a quarantined ship with no apparent lifesigns. What initially appears to be a hologram running the ship turns out to be Pyrite. She had boarded the ship 15 years earlier, answering a distress call; she put the crew in stasis and had kept them alive and the ship running ever since.
* 2365: Pyrite is part of a delegation aboard the Rhode Island; her planet is considering applying for Federation membership. She admires the culture of her new home and of the Federation, but tells Tolek that she isn't really happy there - she hasn't made many friends and misses her old job.
* 2400: Tolek and the Rhose Island visit the gem homeworld, which is quickly becoming a more accepting and vibrant place. Pyrite is happy to meet all the new gem fusions, but she doesn't want to fuse with anyone herself, and she admits to Tolek that this makes her feel inadequate. Tolek tells Pyrite that he knows someone she should meet. A pirate starship with a gem crew and a human captain takes Pyrite and Tolek to the captain's hometown, to Beach City on Earth. Pyrite meets many of the people there. Tolek is surprised when she hits it off right away with a french fry shop employee obsessed with supernatural phenomena.
