First off, the foundation of this work is Anne-Louis Girodet's portrait of Dominique Jean Larrey. I needed a painting that would realistically fit into the Guisse residence and thought that the portrait could be shaped into an anthropomorphic setting rather nicely.
Otherwise, this is just a fun exercise I undertook to alter a portrait to suit a different setting. My clumsy alterations aside, I can't take credit for this fine example of precise, clear romantic portraiture.

I actually tried that by using the clone tool on the background a bit, but there might be more I could try out. In any case, I had to stop myself at a point because this painting is only a little element in the current comic page (but it will reappear in subsequent pages).
