This is an idea I am playing around with, possibly for my etsy store. The idea here is for a smaller, concealable practical self defense weapon. From my playing around with these, I believe these would fill this role quite well. I was able to draw these and strike 2X in under one second with them. The material is heavy steel pipe, so the weight is close to that of a full size pair of nunchucks condensed into a smaller package. What that translates to is a smaller object that packs the same amount of punch as its full size counterpart, fully capable of breaking bones, damaging tissue and dealing devastating blows.
The one issue that I am having with these is that they come back on you kinda hard if you swing them into something bouncy. I tried these out on my tire dummy and they flipped back on my knuckle and left me a nice bruise. Future attempts will probably involve lengthening the string, using lighter pipes, or possibly implementing the use of some springy material instead of rope.

They are actually hollow! They are made from sections of steel pipe. You could fill them with lead, though that would probably make them a little unweildy. As it is, they are pretty heavy. I am pretty confident these would break bone. The issue I was having was actually that they might be a little too destructive since the bounce back on them was so powerful. We'll see.
