Sleight Hand is a 19-year-old female Tabaxi who hails from a noble family. Left on the doorstep of an aristocratic household, Sleight never knew her real parents nor did anyone else. Ever since she was a cub, Sleight Hand has always been a rebellious spirit, she would break rules and talk bad about those who would enforce them, either because she wanted to or because she could. She was always regarded as a bit strange, she’s always had a very strange thought process but was still intelligible. She once painted the family dog purple just because she could, she was very impulsive. She proved herself to be a musical prodigy, especially with the lute. Her parents hired a tutor to hone her musical abilities with a choice of three instruments of their choosing. They chose the lute, bagpipes, and lyre. She mastered the lute in a matter of weeks, the lyre and bagpipes took a few months, but she eventually mastered them too.
As she got older her behavior changed a bit, she was no longer impulsive and developed a hedonist streak. Sleight enjoyed the pleasures of eating, drinking, sleeping with men, and partying all things her family disapproved of. While on her debauchee spree, she met another Tabaxi named Hidden Treasure. His indifference and distaste for authority was enough to catch her attention. Treasure was homeless and didn’t have a lot of gold. But that didn’t matter to Sleight, she found a common interest with him. They would often meet in the market district, where Treasure lived and worked. His job was…less than legal, he was a con-artist, tricking the rich and naïve into handover their hard-earned gold for nothing. Treasure was generous enough to teach Sleight a few tricks and she turned out to be a natural, what took Treasure months or even years to perfect was mastered by Sleight in a few weeks. They became fast friends, much to the chagrin of Sleight’s family. Their hangouts evolved into dates, and friends became lovers. A few months and a year later Treasure proposed with a ring he stole from a newlywed couple.
Sleight’s family was outraged by the news and challenged her loyalty to Treasure and them, she could either cancel the wedding, breaking Treasure’s Heart and stay with her family, or Marry Treasure and lose all connections with her family. She stood defiantly and proclaimed her love for Treasure and denounced her family for stepping in on her personal life. Sleight packed a bag and left the only home she ever knew that same night. Sleight and Treasure got married in front the aristocratic house, just prove a point. Both were chased out by the guards much to their amusement. Sleight took up Treasure’s business of conning people and decided to cheat at games of chance as well. Sleight was earning more than twice as much as Treasure and before either of them knew it, they had enough gold to buy a house, so they did. It was a modest three-bedroom five roomed house with a backyard and fence. Sleight and Treasure celebrated with a night of passion and a couple of weeks later became pregnant.
Both were ecstatic to have a cub of their own, especially since Sleight didn’t know anyone she was related to. For months they thought about the baby’s name, gender, personality, and if they would be a con-artist like them. But those plans came crashing down during Sleight third trimester, when her husband was brutal killed by a powerful vengeful victim of their cons in a back alley. Afraid for her life and her child’s she sold the house to the first bidder and ran with what little gold she could take. She reluctantly traveled back to her family’s home seeking shelter and safety. She explained what happened and why she was there, they looked on somberly. After a few tense moments they answered her request by guiding her to the front door. Sleight begged to be accepted back in, but they made it clear that she rejected them, so they rejected her. A week later Sleight gave birth to healthy baby girl, She named her Lost Treasure. She went to an orphanage to unwilling give Lost up for adoption, when the deed was done, she broke down for the first time in years.
Sleight continues to perform cons despite her husband’s fate, vowing to never cheat the wrong person and to avenge her mate and cub. Sleight keeps searching for her daughter hoping to find her, so she’ll at least know who and where Lost is. While no longer overindulgent of it, Sleight still seeks pleasure in various forms.
