It's cold and horrible.
>>♦THE ARTWORK
>Type : ‘Standard Painting’ from the ‘Old queued paintings left unfinished’
Title: Revenant
Or (It´s Cold)
>Duration
♦ Two years since the origin of the idea. The day i watch The Revenant for the first time, and draw the sketch.
♦ Many days and many sessions, many of them spent on testing and failing.
♦ Run time: About 16 hours.
♦Today: about 5:30 hours
>Explanation
I wanna say that according to the flow i had, i was supposed to practice concept art,
but I left my learning material at work, so i´ll do it tomorrow.
And since yesterday i was crying about how i wanted to paint other paintings other that just doing studies,
i kind of got convinced of doing this,
so probably i'm gonna try to upload on-queue standard paintings on sunday.
This is actually a repair, or fix,
i have like hundreds of unfinished drawings, and sketches, and lots of wanna be paintings,
but they are all failures, but i have like this idea, that there's gotta be a way to repair them or finish them,
even if they are the most horrible thing in the world,
this is actually something i have actually done in a few uploads i´ve made.
I choose to finish this one today. It already had some progress.
And i didn't had the whole day to paint something from scratch so….here it is.
>Inspiration Sources:
♦ The Revenant Movie
> about the technique
♦ Use of mixer brush
♦ Use of the real brush type brushes, with hairs, tilt and all.
♦ Selection fill
♦ Layer blending modes.
♦ Color grading
♦ Smudge
> about the species
Probably a le canine.
>♦STORY
Probably something like the movie.
What i painted, is not inspired on a literal scene,
it does not happen,
and the character i drew is not Hugh Glass.
What I painted is the overall feeling i got from the movie.
>♦GRIPE
I wished i had more time to fix the problems in
proportion, anatomy and colors.
But i gotta get on with it.
For each 10 failures you'll land one success
That's what i heard from somewhere,
so you better keep moving forward
or you´ll never get to number 11
i actually believe i have real problems with colors,
distinguish between blues and purples
Or between some desaturated values of greens and reds.
sometimes i paint green colors on things that should be red.
I think this is the case,
i have to work harder to fix those problems.
>♦CRITIQUE
Anatomy, terrible
Proportion, horrible
I sincerely think this is a failure.
Maybe i can't really fix them paintings.
>Recommendations
Practice anatomy like crazy, and proportions
I do want to draw digitigrade characters,
but my lack of practice and knowledge forbids me
So practice that also.
>♦Personal Judgment, Score
