Another KatNee Movie Date, coming up! Welcome to "Katney's Never Seen 'Iron Man 2'". Mm, what can I say about Iron Man 2? What were my expectations? I did enjoy the first Iron Man so I guess I was just hopeful I'd like this, too? Honestly we were just paving through these movies because Nee wanted to get to The Avengers ASAP. XD For the most part, before I sat down to work on the log I didn't remember most of this movie... except that I learned to like Phil Coulson, too. ^^ Also I'm now aware that there are multiple robotic arms, but Nee and I call them all Dummy, and I'll continue to do so in the descriptions. Dummy is best robotic arm.

Title card: Nee always planned to have Iron Nee sitting in the giant donut with Katney Widow attending. He actually sent me an email of quite a few dialogue choices to use in it, including: "<Nee> Donut? <Katney> Can't. This suit is tight enough as it is."; "<Katney> How can you eat donuts in a metal suit with no give? <Nee> Most of the suit is CGed in post."; and "<Katney> It's not that comfy up here. <Nee> I'm in a metal suit. No where is comfy."

1) We watch these movies from our respective countries. We log into our internet messenger of choice, choose a movie, count down to start, and type our reactions and commentary accordingly.
2) It has to be a movie only one of us has seen before. The only exception is if it's part of a film series and one of us wishes to watch it together, but it will still be added to their movie total tally. (Example: Katney's already seen Batman Forever, but Nee wants it included in the Movie Date entries.)
3) If neither of us has seen a particular movie one of us has to watch it first. Besides syncing issues leading to possible spoilers who would draw the title card? X3
4) Movies that we've seen before but haven't watched in several years and remember very little of may be included.
5) Movies that have only been seen in bits and pieces may be included as long as certain plot points/twists haven't been revealed. There may be some minor exceptions if it's included in a film series and/or heavily parodied.
6) TV and internet shows will be included. One disk/season will be considered one movie. 5 to 6 episodes maximum per viewing and marked as a completed movie by the end of the disk/season. Internet shows without a physical copy will be calculated either by episode run times or by season.
7) While Katney does her best to add movie descriptions these logs are from some time ago and some of our reactions may have to be taken out of context.
8) The logs will be posted as they were originally written, except self-corrected typos will be removed and some strong language will be censored. The censored word will usually be replaced with "(toast)" or some other variation depending on the situation. There may be some films where this rule will be ignored.
9) In the descriptions the actor's name may only be listed in regards to the character they play if we refer to them as such or as another character they've played in our commentary.
10) Movies are watched from beginning to end, so if you intend to watch these movies beware of spoilers.
11) More rules can be added at any time.

(The film begins with a voiceover of Tony Stark from the previous movie, at the press conference where he reveals he is Iron Man. It is being watched in Moscow, Russia, by a sick old man, Anton Vanko, who weakly calls out to his son Ivan. Anton tells his son that Ivan has every right to the successes Tony Stark has and all he can give him is his knowledge... and then he dies without verbally saying anything more.)
Nee: recaping!

Katney: Didn't give much knowledge there did he?
(After grieving for his loss Ivan looks at blueprints from his father's work area, which includes the arc reactor, showing that the designers were Anton and Howard Stark. As the opening credits roll Ivan begins to build something, and we observe magazine clippings of Stark Industries, Tony, and Iron Man. Observing is a sulphur-crested cockatoo. Finally we see what he is creating: a small arc reactor similar to the one in Tony's chest. Title appears on screen.)
Katney: Oh sheet XD

Katney: It's bright
(6 months later Iron Man leaps out of a plane and free falls, then he starts flying through a barrage of fireworks. He lands on a stage with dancing girls in the background before a crowd of fans. This is the Stark Expo in Flushing, New York. Various robot arms rise from the stage and remove the Iron Man suit with ease, revealing Tony underneath in a tuxedo.)
Katney: Oh dear, is he doing publicity stunts? X3
Katney: ... Yes he is
Nee: Dancers >3
Katney: Stark Expo
Katney: He's mastered taking the suit off
(Once the crowd has calmed down Tony begins with, "I'm not saying that the world is enjoying its longest period of uninterrupted peace in years because of me. (...) I'm not saying that Uncle Sam can kick back on a lawn chair, sipping on an iced tea because I haven't come across anyone who's man enough to go toe-to-toe with me on my best day.")
Katney: Humble much?

Katney: Is that a challenge, Tony?
(He finally mentions wanting to leave behind a legacy for future generations like his father did. So Tony has reopened the Stark Expo for the first time since 1974 to bring together great minds from around the world to create new inventions for the benefit of mankind for the next year. Then on the television screen behind him he introduces his father Howard Stark, played here by John Slattery, via archive footage, who shows a scale model of "the City of the Future". Very Walt Disney.)

Katney: Ahah
(Backstage Tony is testing a sample of his blood on a Stark Medical Scanner, which reveals his blood toxicity is at 19%. The video ends and the Expo carries on. In various POV shots Happy Hogan leads Tony outside to be greeted by fans, young and old, and autographs an Iron Man poster. He also greets a man in suspenders whom he addresses as Larry King, played by Stan Lee. ... Ha, I was right! ^^ I'm literally just finding this out as I write this. XD Also Nee asks that I put this in now: (Nee: STAN!!!!!!))

(Tony and Happy exit the Expo and find a brunette woman leaning against their car. She reveals that she is a US Marshal and serves Tony a subpoena. "You are hereby ordered to appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee tomorrow morning at 9:00am." Tony requests to see her badge. "He likes the badge," Happy tells her. She complies. "You still like it?" "Yep." Tony asks how far DC is, Happy telling him it's 250 miles. As they drive the screen transitions to Washington, DC.)
Katney: Badge!
Nee: That was a short drive <_<
(In the senate hearing chambers Tony has his back turned from the senate to speak with Pepper Potts who sits a few rows away from him. "Mr. Stark, please!" Tony turns to Senator Stern. "Yes, dear?" Stern asks if Tony possesses a specialized weapon, referring to the Iron Man suit, which Tony replies is more of a high-tech prosthesis. Stern wants it turned over to the government, but Tony refuses. "I am Iron Man. The suit and I are one." Throughout the hearing Tony cracks various jokes and quips, causing the people attending to laugh... except for Pepper who shakes her head at Tony. We're introduced to Justin Hammer, the CEO of Hammer Industries and the Senate's primary weapons contractor. Hammer refers to Tony as Anthony throughout, calling the Iron Man suit a sword while Tony insists it's a shield. "We live in a world of grave threats, threats that Mr. Stark will not always be able to foresee.")
Katney: Yes dear... heehee
Katney: Pepper's not amused
Nee: Antony
(Senator Stern then calls Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes to the chamber. Rhodey, previously played by Terrence Howard and now Don Cheadle, enters with a report he compiled on the Iron Man suit. Stern requests that Rhodey read a specific section from his report out loud for the record. "You do understand that reading a single paragraph out of context does not reflect the summary of my final--" "Just read it, Colonel. I do. Thank you." Rhodey reads from his report, stating that since Iron Man doesn't operate within the government he presents a potential threat to the nation. However, he admits to summarizing the benefits of Iron Man outweighing the liabilities.)
Katney: Rhodey!
Nee: YEAH! ... he looks different
Katney: New actor though, right?
Nee: right
Katney: Tell it like it is, Rhodey
(Stern then reveals satellite video images of foreign countries attempting to create their own copies of the Iron Man suit which could be operational. However Tony uses a small handheld computer to hack into the video screen, showing various video footage of the suits in action and failing miserably... including one with Hammer himself where the armored test pilot's upper half turns the wrong way. >_O Hammer disconnects the screen. "Yeah, I'd say most countries, five, 10 years away. Hammer Industries, 20." Tony says America is secure and tells the Senate they can't have the suit. He receives a standing ovation as he declares that he privatized world peace. Senator Stern can only say, "(Bleep) you, Mr. Stark. (Bleep) you, buddy." ... It's being televised in the movie; that's how the line actually goes. I'm not abandoning my "(toast)s". ^^ The senate adjourns.)
Katney: ... I'm booooooooooooored. XD When are we done with this scene?
Nee: Soon enough ^^
Katney: He hacks :3

(Ivan watches the hearing on his Russian-translated television and watches Tony preparing to exit the chamber. He tells the camera, "My bond is with the people, and I will serve this great nation at the pleasure of myself. If there's one thing I've proven it's that you can count on me to pleasure myself." Ivan attaches a whip to one of the arms of an armored suit. He activates the arc reactor which sends a charge through the whip, electrifying it. He puts the suit arms on with the arc reactor and swings his arms with electric whips around his workshop, splitting his TV in half.)
Katney: Pleasure himself... ha ha ha ha
Katney: Hey that was a nice TV dude!
Nee: O.o dude...
(In Malibu, California at Tony's mansion Tony activates his workshop controls. JARVIS welcomes Tony and congratulates him on the opening ceremony at the Expo. Dummy, the robotic arm, activates a blender without the lid, causing the green contents to spray out, and then it accidentally knocks the whole thing over. "You! I swear to God I'll dismantle you, I'll soak your motherboard, I'll turn you into a wine rack." Dummy beeps dejectedly.)
Nee: Dummy!
Katney: Ohhh Dummy!
(We learn that the green liquid is chlorophyll, which Tony must drink to counteract symptoms of his blood toxicity, which is now up to 24%. The Palladium core in the arc reactor in Tony's chest is poisoning him and he has been unable to find a substitute. Tony removes the arc reactor to replace the burnt out core with a new one and then replaces the reactor. "Unfortunately, the device that's keeping you alive is also killing you." We see that the chest area around the arc reactor has deep blue veins. JARVIS informs Tony that Pepper is approaching and he should tell her, but Tony mutes him as Pepper enters.)
Katney: That ain't good
Nee: that was inside him!
(Pepper is angry at Tony, having learned that he donated their entire modern art collection to the Boy Scouts of America. Tony tells her he needed the tax write-off. Pepper then tells him that the Expo is a waste a time and that Tony's ego is going crazy. Tony admires a framed picture of Iron Man and looks for a place to hang it up. Pepper follows him and says that the company is in disarray, then argues that he not remove a Barnett Newman painting, "Untitled Etching #1", to hang up the Iron Man picture.)
Nee: that's just a line ... the ironman picture was better
(... ::tilts head:: Sorry, but I gotta agree with Tony and Nee on this one. XD Tony soon tells Pepper that he doesn't care about the liberal agenda anymore. "It's boring. Boring. I'm giving you a boring alert. You do it." "I do what?" "Excellent idea. I just figured this out. You run the company." Pepper doesn't understand what he means and argue a little more before Tony finally says he's making her the CEO. Pepper shuts up, stunned. "I hereby irrevocably appoint you chairman and CEO of Stark Industries, effective immediately." Dummy brings a platter with wine glasses and a bottle of champagne to Tony, who pours them both a drink. Pepper is still stunned, but she smiles as they tap their glasses together and drink.)
Katney: What a promotion

Katney: Went from babbling to speechless
(In Russia a dark haired man steps into an alley where Ivan awaits. The man gives Ivan an envelope and leaves once he receives his payment. Ivan opens the envelope, revealed to contain a passport and a ticket to the Monaco Grand Prix.)
Katney: Evil backalley dealings
Nee: ... call me crazy.. but I think he is up tosomething
Katney: Ythink?
(Pepper walks into a gym where Tony and Happy are boxing in a ring, telling Tony that the notary has arrived so that he can transfer the company. The two men turn to gaze at the notary, a woman played by Scarlett Johansson, entering with paperwork. Tony watches as Pepper signs the paperwork, and asks for the woman's name. "Rushman. Natalie Rushman." He asks for her to enter the boxing ring so that Happy can give her a lesson. Tony sits beside Pepper, telling her he wants Natalie as his new assistant. He activates a touchscreen computer in the neighboring glass table (I want one XD). "What, are you gonna Google her now?" "I thought I was ogling her." He looks up Natalie's profile, learning she is fluent in several languages and she was a model in Tokyo. In the ring Happy lightly jabs at Natalie, who grabs his wrist and flips him onto his back. This alarms Pepper, and Tony casually declares it a TKO. Happy walks off, slightly bent over. Natalie resumes business with the paperwork and finalizes the company transfer to Pepper. Natalie leaves, Tony watches after her. "I want one." "No," Pepper replies.)

(... OK, so by the time we started watching the MCU I already knew who Scarlett Johansson played and apparently I didn't catch that she introduced herself as Natalie and not Natasha. X3)
Katney: Is she suppose to be Russian? She didn't sound Russian. She had a Russian name
Nee: <_< I have no clue... I mean Rushman sounds like it could be from anywhere
Katney: Yeah, but Natashia?
(In Monaco it's time for the Monaco Grand Prix. Tony, Happy, and Pepper walk into Hotel De Paris. Happy walks off with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist, and Tony and Pepper meet with Natalie in the hotel restaurant, whom Tony hired behind Pepper's back. They mingle through the restaurant until they reach a bar... where Justin Hammer greets them. He reintroduces the pair to Christine Everhart from Vanity Fair and reveals to them that Christine is doing a spread on him. Pepper mentions, "Well, she did quite a spread on Tony last year." "And she wrote a story as well," Tony adds. As Pepper steps away Christine asks the men if this was their first meeting since the senate, but Tony says it was since Hammer's contract with the US Armed Forces was revoked. Hammer tells Tony he plans to present something at the Stark Expo. "Well, if you invent something that works, I'll make sure I get you a slot." Natalie tells Tony that his table is ready and guides him away from Hammer and Christine.)

(In the bathroom Tony pricks his finger on the Stark Medical Scanner, his blood toxicity now reading 53%. He looks at his reflection and asks himself if he has any other bad ideas.)
Katney: 53%, not good
Nee: that's very nearly half!
Katney: That's over half!
(Later Tony walks through a crowd of people wearing a blue racing uniform and steps onto the racing roadway. Meanwhile in the bar Hammer and Christine continue to talk while the Grand Prix is being televised. "Tony and I... Tony... I love Tony Stark. Tony loves me. We're not competitors. Him being out of the picture created tremendous opportunities for Hammer Industries, you know?" They then notice Tony on the TV and realize he is going to be driving in the race instead of the intended driver. He does own the car after all. <_< Pepper watches, and orders Natalie to get Happy. Hammer tries to continue the interview with Christine, who quickly loses interest and goes to follow up on Tony.)
Katney: You're lying so hard Hammer XD
Nee: he is someone TRYING to be Tony Stark
Katney: Get Happy
(Race car engines are revving as they wait for the signal to go. Tony and the other race cars zoom along the track. Meanwhile Ivan, wearing coveralls and a helmet, walks along a chain link fence. He suddenly walks onto the roadway, race cars zooming past him. He tears open his top, revealing the arc reactor attached to a body frame. The two whips drop into view and begin to spark, the coils on his body frame sizzle the top of his coveralls off. He strikes an oncoming race car with a whip, slicing off the front and sending the rest of the car flying through the air and crashing. The whole thing is viewed by everyone in the restaurant and bar on TV. Happy appears, and he and Pepper race out of the hotel into their luxury car. They break through a barricade and make their way onto the raceway.)
Katney: Vroom vroom vroom
Nee: O.o Hopefully everything goes okay
Katney: Heeeeeeey it's that guy!
Nee: Yeah! Maaaaw he must be here to help out
Nee: that's sweet of him ^^
Katney: The hell O.o
Katney: Hoooooo sheeeeet
Nee: O.O This.... could be bad
(Tony speeds towards Ivan, who strikes his whip on the front of Tony's car, sending the rest of the car flipping in the air and landing with the top on the road. As the car leaks gasoline Tony tries to escape. Ivan approaches Tony's car as two more race cars crash behind him and explode. Ivan slices Tony's car in half, but finds Tony is no longer in the driver's seat. Tony hits Ivan on the back of the head with a piece of the wreckage from the first car. They battle, Tony avoiding the whip attacks.)
Katney: Not good
Katney: TONY
Nee: .... he is dead
Katney: He can't be! He's movies to do!
Nee: short movie
Katney: ... Cliched explosion, too big for what it is
(Tony ends up wounded and lying beside one of the wrecked cars which is leaking fuel. He rolls out of the way before Ivan's whips causes the fuel to erupt into flames. As Ivan creeps towards Tony Happy rams the car into Ivan and pins him against the fence. Pepper yells at Tony to get into the car, which Tony begins to comply, only to have the back passenger door be sliced in half by Ivan's whip. Happy backs the car up, then rams it into Ivan again. Tony grabs the briefcase from Pepper, which turns into a compressed Iron Man suit. Tony suits up into Iron Man Mark 5.)
Katney: Hooo it's leaking
Katney: Ouch
Nee: ... run... run... run!
Katney: Oooooo that hurt
Katney: EEK
Nee: ... how is he still moving!
Katney: He's a FREAK
Nee: nice new armour ^^
(Iron Man kicks the car away from Ivan. Ivan swings his whips at Iron Man's hands as he fires at him, thankfully the suit is tough enough to not cut off his limbs. Iron Man is ensnared by the whips and tossed around by Ivan, onto the car Happy and Pepper are still in. Iron Man soon manages to ground Ivan and removes the arc reactor from his body frame, deactivating it all. The police hoist Ivan up, who spits blood at Iron Man. "You lose!" He laughs as the police carry him away and Iron Man crushes the arc reactor in his hands. In the restaurant Hammer watches the TV and smiles.)
Katney: Good thing the guy waited for him to suit up X3
Katney: Pepper, Happy, get out of the freakin' car!
Katney: Really scuffed up his suit
Nee: that... that was a nice suit
Nee: looks like he won to me
Katney: ... He's smiling. Make him stop
(Later Tony walks down a corridor followed by several police officers. The men say they ran Ivan's prints but got nothing back, not even a name. Tony enters a room where Ivan sits in underwear and handcuffs. Tony calls Ivan's tech pretty decent and tells him how he could improve it. He then wonders why he didn't try to sell it. Ivan tells him he comes from a family of thieves and butchers who try to rewrite their history and forget the lives they destroyed. Ivan then reveals that he got the designs from his father, Anton Vanko, and he is the reason Tony is still alive even if Tony's never heard of him. He goes on to tell Tony, "If you can make God bleed, the people will cease to believe in Him. (...) All I have to do is sit here and watch as the world will consume you." Tony reminds him he will be watching from a prison cell and he will send Ivan a bar of soap. As Tony walks towards the door to leave, Ivan tells Tony that palladium in the chest is a painful way to die. As Ivan is left alone he laughs, we see his shiny golden teeth.)
Katney: Don't drop that soap. X3

(On a private plane Pepper watches the TV featuring Senator Stern talking about how Tony was wrong about successful bootleg suits being years off. Tony mutes the TV and serves Pepper an omelette. Pepper suspects Tony isn't telling her something. Tony tells her he doesn't want to go home, wishing to cancel his birthday party and instead go to Venice. Pepper thinks it's not the best time, as CEO she needs to make an appearance. "Well, I'm just saying, to recharge our batteries and figure it all out." "Not everybody runs on batteries, Tony.")
Katney: Looks gross
Katney: Make things easier if they did run on batteries
(In prison Ivan is served a tray of food, and finds a note on it. It reads, "Enjoy the potatoes" in a foreign language. He picks up the white mass resembling mashed potatoes and turns it over, finding it's plastic explosives with a digital timer reading 0:35. The guard returns and unlocks the door, a long haired man in a prison uniform is let inside and locked in. Ivan soon notices they have the same prison numbers on their uniforms, 6219. He smiles and smashes the man's head against the sink, knocking him out. The guard passes by and sets the key on a metal shelf on the door. Ivan sticks the plastic explosive on the wall and activates the timer, then uses the key to unlock the door and steps out. He casually walks down the corridor until he passes a police officer, punching him and then snapping his neck. As he walks off his cell explodes. Two guards approach him and put a bag over his head, escorting him out past the other guards and into the back of a van.)
Katney: Oooooo, plastic explosive
Katney: Same number...
Nee: ... poor luck dude
Katney: ... OK, so he's given plastic explosive and a key and another body... hmmmmm curious.
(When Ivan is released from the van and the bag is removed he finds that they're now in an airplane hangar where Hammer sits eating at a table. Hammer says he would like to do business with Ivan as they sit down to eat. Ivan looks to the wait staff serving him, watching their every move towards him. Hammer tells Ivan how amazed he was at the race track, and it would be a waste of talent for Ivan to be in prison. Hammer suggests that instead of just killing Tony, however, Ivan should attack his legacy. He offers his resources to Ivan, who chuckles and speaks in Russian. Hammer then asks if Ivan speaks English. "Very good, man," Ivan replies. They laugh and clink their drinks together. Ivan then tells Hammer that he wants his bird... and he specifies "HIS" bird, not "A" bird.)
Nee: HAMMER?!
Katney: Not too surprising.
Nee: YOU? I would never had expected that
Nee: ... Ivan has no clue what these servants are doing
Katney: Indeed
Katney: ... Subtitles, please. X3

Katney: He wants his birdy
(At Tony's mansion in Malibu Pepper and Natalie are each talking on separate phones, the people worried if Tony is still capable of protecting them. Rhodey suddenly walks in asking where Tony is. In the workshop Tony sits in a car staring at various holographic webpages. JARVIS reads the search results for Anton Vanko, who was a Soviet physicist accused of espionage in the 1960s. His son Ivan is also a physicist convicted of selling Soviet-era weapons-grade plutonium and served 15 years. Rhodey steps into the workshop and tells Tony how the National Guard is preparing to take the Iron Man suits away. After the events in Monaco people realize the threat is real and present. Rhodey notices that Tony seems to be in a daze and helps to carry Tony to his desk when he falls from the car. Tony replaces another half-melted palladium core from his arc reactor. Rhodey tells Tony that he doesn't have to fight alone, but Tony says he does.)
Katney: He don't look good
Nee: I think we're above 58%
Katney: Not climbing as fast as it was then X3
(In Queens, New York Hammer brings Ivan to a Hammer Industries factory and shows him the prototype bootleg Iron Man suits he had worked on. Ivan begins to type on a computer keyboard. "Oh, you don't wanna do that. You'll be able to access that as soon as we generate some encrypted pass codes." However Ivan gains access. Nyeh. ^^ Ivan speaks in Russian, confusing Hammer. "Sorry?" "Software (toast)." Ivan climbs some metal steps up to one of the suits and studies it, removing the helmet on one of them. Hammer tells Ivan he wants the suits to put him in the Pentagon and to make Iron Man look like an antique. Ivan says he can do that with a smile.)
Katney: Mwa ha, never mind
Nee: Softwear toast XD says it like it is
Katney: Ouchie, the suit felt that
Katney: What's to stop him from double-crossing you Hammer?
(At night in Tony's bedroom he studies the dark veins around his chest and neck, the Palladium concentration display on the mirror reads 89% in the last 7 days. Natalie enters with a box of watches. Tony thinks he should cancel his party because it's ill-timed, and Natalie agrees. Tony sits with a martini and looks at the watches. Natalie takes out a compact and starts to dab some makeup on his wounds. Tony decides to ask Natalie a "hypothetical" question. "If this was your last birthday party you were ever gonna have, how would you celebrate it?" "I'd do whatever I wanted to do with whoever I wanted to do it with." Natalie walks out as Tony gulps down his martini.)

(At the party Tony is wearing the Mark 4 Iron Man suit with the faceplate up and dances in front of a deejay station with a crowd of people. Rhodey arrives to the party outside, promising the party on his cell that he will have Iron Man back on watch within 24 hours. Once he gets inside, Pepper shows him Tony, still in the suit and drunk. Tony stumbles and falls into a shelf with glass/crystal items and something shatters. Rhodey is prepared to make a call, but Pepper tells him she'll handle it.)
Katney: Oooo something broke
(Tony recovers and grabs a microphone, addressing the room. "You know, the question I get asked most often is, 'Tony, how do you go to the bathroom in the suit?' ... Just like that." A smiling Pepper takes the mic away and tries to end the party gracefully, though Tony objects as they haven't have cake yet! He does take the mic back and tells everyone that the party is over... but the after-party starts in 15 minutes! Oy... "And if anybody--Pepper--doesn't like it, there's the door." As he points he shoots off an energy blast from his glove and shatters a glass wall by the fountain. The crowd loves it though, and take turns to throw things into the air for Tony to shoot at like clay pigeons. Rhodey glares and storms out.)

(Rhodey marches downstairs to Tony's workshop and eyes the other Iron Man suits, Marks 1, 2, and 3 in view. He suits up into the silver Mark 2 and appears back at the party. "I'm only gonna say this once. Get out." The party goers begin to file out as Rhodey orders Tony to shut down his suit. Instead, Tony turns to the deejay and giggles, "Give me a phat beat to beat my buddy's ass to." "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen plays. Rhodey grabs Tony from behind, Tony flips his mask down and activates the thrusters in his boots, sending them both flying through a wall, into a sauna, through the sauna's glass wall, and land in the gym. They fight roughly with the gym equipment, eventually Tony is thrown through the ceiling and into his bedroom. "Had enough?")

(Several of the guests linger outside of the mansion. Pepper starts to have a confrontation with Natalie, but Tony and Rhodey crash through the ceiling in front of them. Happy pulls Pepper away as the two Iron Men continue their fight, Natalie takes another way. The guests watch the fight, some recording on their phones. Tony knocks Rhodey down, and then scares the guests off with a lunge and a yell.)
Katney: ... You people were told to leeeeeeaaaave
Nee: Yeeeeeah... Start running and don't stop till morning
(Rhodey recovers and slams part of the kitchen countertop--complete with the kitchen sink--into Tony's back, sending him flying head-first into a lit fireplace. Tony pulls his head out and the two Iron Men raise their palm weapons to each other. "You wanna be the War Machine, take your shot." Neither backing down they fire their weapons at each other, the beams meeting halfway. It causes a huge explosion which blows out the windows and destroys much of the room. Tony lays back against a wall, and exchanges a stare with Rhodey, who then flies off in the Mark 2 suit. The next morning Rhodey arrives at the Edwards Air Force Base in Mojave, California, still wearing the Mark 2, or War Machine Mark 1. Pilots and others watch in awe. "Let's take it inside.")

(Elsewhere, Tony is still in the Iron Man suit, but without the helmet, as he eats a donut while sitting inside of a giant donut advertising the business, Randy's Donuts. Nick Fury stands on the ground level and calls up to Tony. "Sir! I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the donut.")

(Inside they sit across from each other in a booth and Tony tells Fury he doesn't want to join his "super-secret boy band". Fury studies the veins on Tony's neck. Natalie approaches, wearing a tight black leather outfit. Tony looks at her... and tells her she's fired. XD Fury introduces her as Agent Romanoff, a SHIELD shadow who was assigned to Tony when they found out he was ill. It wasn't hard to figure out; Tony made Pepper his CEO, has been giving away his possessions, and he allowed Rhodey to fly away with his suit. Natalie injects something into Tony's neck and the veins on his neck recede. It's not a full-time cure but it will help him get back to work. Tony tells him he's tried every possible element, but Fury reveals he hasn't tried them all.)

(At Hammer Industries Hammer and his assistant/butler Jack arrive with a sulphur-crested cockatoo in a cage and present it to a frowning Ivan. "This is not my bird." "Well, listen, even if it's not the bird, I mean, this is a gorgeous bird. I mean, you know, look, don't get so attached to things. Learn to let go." Hammer then notices the suit that Ivan was working on when they arrived. He notices the helmet is now too small to fit a human head. "Drone better. (...) People make problem. Trust me." Hammer responds that the Government and the people want human-piloted suits like Iron Man. Ivan returns with, "Don't get too attached to things. Learn to let go." ^^ Hammer begrudgingly accepts it, but warns Ivan that it better impress him.)

(In the hangar Rhodey reveals the Mark 2 Iron Man suit to General Meade, confirming that is mission capable. Meade asks to have Hammer weaponize it, explaining that Hammer is making a weapons presentation at the Expo and he wants the suit to introduce it. Rhodey reluctantly accepts the order.)
Katney: Don't let Hammer have it!

(At Tony's destroyed mansion he and Fury look out on the ocean. Fury says the arc reactor as unfinished technology, as Howard Stark was about to kick off a huge energy race before he died. Tony asks if Anton Vanko was involved as well. Fury reveals that Anton wanted to use it for fortune and Howard had him deported. When he couldn't deliver to the Russians Anton was shipped to Siberia and spent the next 20 years in a drunken rage. Tony then brings up what Fury said earlier about a replacement to pallidum that he hadn't tried. "[Howard] said that you were the only person with the means and knowledge to finish what he started." Tony claims his father didn't care about him, but Fury denies it as he knew Howard very well as a founding member of SHIELD. Fury abruptly gets up to leave, despite Tony's objections. He reintroduces Agent Phil Coulson to Tony and Natasha, formerly Natalie, and leaves after telling Tony communications have been shut off. Coulson tells Tony that he is authorized by any means to keep him on the premises. "If you attempt to leave or play any games, I will tase you and watch Supernanny while you drool into the carpet. OK?" "I think I got it, yeah." Coulson walks away while Tony eyes a crate that was left behind, which has "Property of H. Stark" stamped on the top.)

(In the hangar Rhodey removes the arc reactor from the Mark 2 suit's chest plate and sets it aside. Hammer arrives, quite happy as he sucks on a lollipop. He tells Rhodey he is going to upgrade the software, but Rhodey interrupts, wanting to know about the firepower. Hammer tells him he's come to the right guy as he bites down on the lollipop. He soon is shown demonstrating a few different weapons ranging from a 9mm pistol to a grenade launcher and speaking in techno-babble. He finishes with a small missile, the Ex-Wife, claiming it's capable of "busting the bunker under the bunker you just busted." Rhodey tells Hammer he will take "All of it.")

(At his house Tony opens the crate, finding a blueprint for the arc reactor, the same one Ivan studied earlier, and sets it behind him. He inspects a newspaper which reads "Soviet Scientist Vanko Defects" and sets that aside. He pulls out a reel of film and watches it on a projection screen while skimming through a notebook with handwritten notes. Within the notes are drawings of the cubed Tesseract introduced later in the MCU. On the film is Howard Stark filming the scene seen at the Expo with outtakes, including a young Tony being scolded for playing with the model. Tony tosses the notebook aside once he reaches blank pages. Suddenly Howard addresses him from the screen, explaining that he made a film so that Tony would understand when he's older. "I built this for you. ::referring to the model:: And someday you'll realize that it represents a whole lot more than just people's inventions. It represents my life's work. This is the key to the future. I'm limited by the technology of my time, but one day you'll figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world. What is and always will be my greatest creation is you." The film ends.)

(In daytime Tony drives his car on the highway, stopping to buy a basket of strawberries on the side of the road. He arrives at Pepper's office at Stark Industries while Pepper is on the phone about the Mark 2's illegal seizure. On the TV a commentator mentions Tony appointing Pepper as CEO of the company and mocking his decision. On the TV the caption reads "Ms. Potts is doing nothing to manage the situation. She's a pinhead!" Tony mutes the TV.)
Nee: ... wait... wasn't phil watching him?

(The call ends and Tony sits down in front of a desk toy with a rotating pole, which Pepper doesn't allow him to move. Tony rambles on for a bit, trying to say something but doesn't. Pepper speaks up, "Let me stop you right here, OK? Because if you say 'I' one more time, I'm gonna actually hurl something at your head, I think." She then scolds him for how he's behaved lately and how she's been taking care of his messes and getting the blame for it. She then notices the strawberries and tells him she's allergic. Natasha, who still works at the company undercover, and Happy enter, the latter asking the boss if anything is needed. Tony and Pepper both reply in the negative. The two exchange looks, with Tony commenting, "I lost both the kids in the divorce.")

You just tear things... you're a triple impostor." Natasha starts to walk out, telling Tony he can either drive himself or she'll have someone collect him. Tony once again tells her she's good. X3 Alone, Tony tries to stop the desk toy's rotation but it spins on. He starts to leave, throwing away the strawberries, but then he notices a large table under a sheet, realizing it's the scale model from Howard's film propped up on its side. He reads the plaque on its side, "The key to the future is here." He smiles.)

(Later in his workshop Tony has brought the model with him and has JARVIS create a digital wire frame to manipulate it. As he does he looks at the Unisphere, studying it. "What is it you're trying to achieve, sir?" "I'm discovering-- Correction. I'm rediscovering a new element, I believe." He realizes the whole model is a diagram for the molecular structure of a new element. JARVIS declares that the element will be a viable replacement for palladium, though it's impossible to synthesize. Dummy appears on screen, tapping its fingers together. Tony declares they're going back to hardware mode. He proceeds to smash holes in the concrete wall and in the floor upstairs to lead down into the lab, Dummy watches throughout. In the end Tony completes the construction of a particle accelerator which extends across the house.)

(Coulson enters the lab, mentioning that he was busy and he heard that Tony left. Tony tries to level a section of the tubing but comes up short, until Coulson produces a half-complete prototype/replica of Captain America's shield from within a crate. Tony uses the shield to prop up the tubing, leveling it out perfectly. Coulson tells Tony that he has been reassigned to New Mexico so he is saying good-bye. They shake hands, Coulson reminds Tony, "We need you." "Yeah, more than you know." "Not that much." Coulson leaves.)

(Later Tony inserts a prism into the accelerator aimed towards a triangular core. He starts it up, and it fires a beam of light through the prism. Tony turns a wheel to direct the light towards the triangular core... however the beam of light cuts into the wall, a beam, and other objects in its path until it reaches its destination. Once the core reaches its maximum Tony shuts off the accelerator. JARVIS congratulates Tony on creating the new element. Tony places the core inside an arc reactor and waits for JARVIS to run some tests.)

(Elsewhere Ivan is working on his own arc reactor and receives a call from Hammer, who is golfing with Senator Stern. He tells Ivan that he will bring Stern by to see the drones, only for Ivan to tell him the drones won't be ready for a weapons demonstration. He can make them salute, though. ^^ He activates the reactor which lights up a long coil in front of him.)
Nee: ... he iis working on ... other things
(Later Hammer and two men barge into Ivan's room, Ivan resting on a cot with the cockatoo. Hammer orders the men to take the bird, which is stuffed into a sack, then he orders the men to take Ivan's pillows and shoes. "Do you feel bad? Good. CAUSE THAT'S HOW I FEEL! (...) I saved your life and you give me suits. That was our deal, and you did not deliver." He tells Ivan that he's not at his mercy anymore because he has some Stark tech that he's fixed up and Ivan's suits will be set in the background. Ivan says something to him in Russian, ("You talk too much"), irritating Hammer who still doesn't speak Russian. He leaves the two men as his "babysitters", promising to renegotiate the terms of their agreement later. Hammer leaves, Ivan looks to the two men and chuckles.)

(At Tony's lab he learns that his phone has been reinstated as he receives a call with a blocked number. He assumes it's Coulson, but it's Ivan, who Tony thought had died. Ivan sits on the floor with blood on his hands, the cockatoo on his shoulder, and the two guards hanging from the ceiling. He had taken the advice Tony gave him earlier to improve his tech. Tony asks JARVIS to track him. "What your father did to my family over 40 years, I will do to you in 40 minutes. (...) I hope you're ready." He ends the call. The tracking was incomplete, but it got as far as Manhattan and outlying boroughs. Tony then glances at a computer screen displaying the Stark Expo web page. It shows that at 7:00pm Hammer will be on the main stage. He looks back at the arc reactor with the new element. Tony implants it into his chest, though JARVIS had not finished the tests. The new arc reactor glows brightly as Tony grits his teeth, the blue veins on his chest begin to disappear. "That tastes like coconut. And metal." It glows brighter and brighter as Tony feels the rush.)

Hammer addresses the audience about how brave men and women have been in harm's way until Iron Man arrived, and people thought those days were left behind. "Sadly, that technology was kept out of reach. That's not fair. That's not right. And it's just too bad." Pepper sighs, "Oh, Lord." "Regardless, it was an impressive innovation, one that grabbed the headlines the world over. Well, today, my friends, the press is faced with quite a difficult problem. They are about to run out of ink." Applause is very scattered. ... Yeah. Hammer then introduces the Hammer Drones, four sets of eight each outfited to suit a specific military branch. Elsewhere Ivan controls a drone by computer.)

(Hammer goes on to say that there will always be a need for man out on the battlefield and introduces a prototype, the Variable Threat Response Battle Suit, and Rhodey, its pilot. Rhodey, wearing the War Machine Mark 2 armor, rises from the floor of the stage. War Machine salutes, as do the drones and Hammer. Suddenly Iron Man flies in wearing his new Mark 6 armor and lands on the stage, receiving a standing ovation from the audience.)

(Iron Man approaches Warm Machine and warns him that the Hammer may be working with the living Ivan Vanko. As Iron Man approaches Hammer Ivan types in a command. A gatling gun on War Machine's back aims at Iron Man. "Is that you?" "No, I'm not doing that. That's not me." Suddenly the drones each raise an arm. War Machine's suit has been hacked into and he can no longer control his actions. The audience and Hammer begin to run out as Iron Man decides to take the fight outside. The drones and War Machine fire their weapons at him, shattering the glass roof which falls onto the people below. War Machine flies after Iron Man, against his wishes, followed by the Air Force drones which break even more glass.)

(Iron Man tells JARVIS to hack into War Machine's suit. War Machine warns Iron Man when his suit is about to attack him, which allows Iron Man to dodge. Backstage Hammer learns that the software had been overridden and they are locked out of the mainframe. Pepper and Natasha approach, wanting to know who locked them out. Hammer mutters to a technician to "get these bitches out of here." Natasha twists Hammer's arm behind his back and pins him to the desk until Hammer tells them Ivan is behind the attack and where to find him. As Natasha runs off Pepper contacts the authorities despite Hammer's objections.)
Katney: EEK

(War Machine and the drones continue to chase after Iron Man, firing their weapons and missing their intended target. The buildings take damage as civilians continue to flee. Remote reboot for War Machine has failed. The other drones fire into the crowds as Ivan watches on from his computer screens.)

Katney: No kidding
(Natasha runs over to Happy's car and has him drive her to Hammer Industries. Army drones stop and use anchors in their feet to secure them to the ground as they fire at Iron Man, missing and taking out one of the Air Force drones. One Army drone stops and takes aim at a young boy wearing an Iron Man mask, who raises his left hand with a light on it. Iron Man lands beside the boy and blasts the drone to pieces. "Nice work, kid." He flies off again. And based on popular fan theory and because Kevin Feige allowed it to be canon, that boy grew up to be... Spider-Man. ::thumbs up:: Nice work, kid. ^^ See ya in Civil War.)

(Iron Man leads War Machine and the drones away from the Expo. He leads them through a parking garage where, as they fly past, many car alarms begin to blare. One drone crashes into a column and explodes. With 2 Air Force drones offline Ivan commands a pack of three to veer off and head back to the Expo, War Machine alerts Iron Man. War Machine flies closer to Iron Man and fires at him, hitting dozens of parked vehicles and exploding them in a fiery blaze.)

(Happy pulls up to Hammer Industries and Natasha tells Happy to stay in the car as she swipes a security card. He refuses to let her go in there alone and goes in first. Ivan notices the security breach alert on his computer screen. Happy tackles with the first guard while Natasha... takes care of everyone else. >_> Yeah, I'm not even gonna try, she's a badass.)

(Eh, Happy was more of a background character in that one. Meanwhile Iron Man flies back towards the Expo with War Machine and the drones in pursuit. Ivan activates the Marine drones which also fly. A technician reveals each set of drones is communicating in its own language... Hammer suggest they try Russian. At Hammer Tech Happy continues to fight the same guard while Natasha takes out her 11th guard with mace. Happy bites the first guard's ear, then punches his stomach and face, knocking him out. "I got him!" He looks down the hall to see all the other guards' bodies. Ivan watches the security camera videos and types something on the computer.)
Katney: Try Russian

Katney: And just like a boxer to chew on a guy's ear

(Iron Man flies over a series of reflecting pools, still being pursued. He warns War Machine that things are about to get wet. He flies towards the Unisphere which is modeled to look like a globe. He flies inside, bounces off a wall shaped like a continent, and flies up, leading most of the drones to crash into the wall and explode, setting the Unisphere ablazed.)
Katney: Boom
Nee: I don't wanna set the world on fire...
Katney: Nope
(Meanwhile Happy catches up to Natasha as she kicks a door in wielding a pair of guns. Ivan is nowhere to be found, only his computer station and the two dead guards. Natasha rushes over to the station. Meanwhile War Machine tackles Iron Man mid-air and sends them crashing into the Oracle biodome. They land at the base of a waterfall. War Machine's suit continues to fight Iron Man, firing its gun while Iron Man points it aside. Natasha begins to type on the computer and reboots the War Machine suit, powering it down. Tony's face appears on Natasha's monitor and she notes that his vitals look promising. "Yes, for the moment, I'm not dying. Thank you." Pepper suddenly appears on a neighboring screen. "Did you say you're dying?" The two go back and forth a bit, Pepper understandably upset that Tony didn't tell her. "I was gonna make you an omelet and tell you." Natasha breaks up the fight and warns Iron Man that the drones are coming. Tony tells Pepper he'll apologize after he's done with the "Hammeroid attack." "We could have been in Venice," he reminds her.)

(War Machine revives, but Rhodey is exhausted. "Oh, man. You can have your suit back." The two reconcile and then talk strategy before the drones arrive. They have a debate about the "big guns" and where they should be positioned. "OK, you got a spot. Where's mine?" "It's the kill box, Tony. ::referring to their current position:: OK? This is where you go to die." The drones drop in one at a time and surround them... leaving them both in the kill box.)
Nee: good luck in the killbox guys
Katney: Yeeeeeaaaaah
(The drones attack. Iron Man leans back slightly to dodge a missile, and fires a few of those wonderful tank missiles at three drones. ^^ More firing, more drones go down... until Iron Man instructs War Machine to duck so he can fire a sweeping repulsor beam around in a circle, destroying the rest of the drones and a few trees. "I think you should lead with that next time." "Yeah, sorry, boss. I can only use it once. It's a one-off.")
Katney: Nice dodge

Katney: ... I want that laser dealy
Nee: ... ... ... lead with that next time
(Police officers arrive backstage of the arena and arrest Hammer, who compliments Pepper for acting like a CEO and taking out the competition. After giving instructions to the officers Pepper tells them she'll stay until the park is clear. At Ivan's computer Natasha informs Iron Man there is one more drone heading their way, but it's different from the others. A bulky mechanical suit drops down near Iron Man and War Machine. The face place lifts up to reveal Ivan... now properly known here as Whiplash. His new electrical whips drop out of his arms as he stands ready for battle. "I got something special for this guy." War Machine fires the Ex-Wife missile from his shoulder cannon... which bounces harmlessly off Whiplash's chest and fizzles out in the water. "... Hammer tech?" Iron Man asks War Machine. "... Yeah.")
Katney: It's Ivan!
Nee: here goes
Katney: ... Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw
Nee: ... hammer tech
Katney: Wanted the big boom
(The three men battle, weapons blazing, whips cracking. Whiplash manages to get his whips around both Iron Man's and War Machine's necks. Iron Man gets an idea. "Put your hand up." They both raise their hands and fire their lasers at each other as they did before, Ivan in the middle. The streams cause another massive explosion which blows out the windows in the biosphere.)
Katney: Chokehold!
Katney: Cross the streams!
Nee: ... that's a lotta glass to replace
Katney: I didn't wanna do those windows anyway
(Iron Man and War Machine stand and look over the wounded Whiplash. "You lose," he tells them as his arc reactor begins to beep and flash red, as do the destroyed drones. They're rigged to blow! They fly out of the biosphere, Iron Man races to the Expo's main building where Pepper is waiting near a downed and beeping drone. She stares at it curiously, until Iron Man grabs her and flies away just as it all explodes.)
Katney: RUN
Katney: RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUNR UNR
Nee: there was one window left and he broke it
Nee: Pepper if something starts beeping RUN!
(Iron Man lands on a rooftop with Pepper and sets her down, ripping his helmet off himself. Pepper starts to freak out. "My body, literally, cannot handle the stress. I never know if you're gonna kill yourself or wreck the whole company." "I think I did OK." Pepper tells him she's resigning, and Tony tells her she deserves better. "You've taken such good care of me. I've been in a tough spot, but you got me through it, so... right?" Soon into their discussion they end up kissing. Rhodey is on the same roof with them and comments that the kiss was weird. X3 Pepper excuses it to having just quit, but Rhodey heard the whole thing. "You should get lost," Tony tells him. "I was here first. Get a roof." "I thought you were out of one-liners." "That's the last one." Rhodey then mentions that his car was taken out in the explosion--Which one?--so he's holding onto the War Machine suit for a while longer and flies off. Tony then asks Pepper how she'll resign if he doesn't accept it.)

Katney: Rhodey!
Nee: LOL Nice one roady

(Later on Tony sits at a table inside a warehouse where one screen shows news footage of the battle aftermath at Culver University. Tony eyes a folder that reads "Avengers Initiative Preliminary Report." Nick Fury arrives and prevents him from looking. Instead Fury hands him the assessment report filed by Natasha. It details his compulsive behavior and being prone to self-destructive tendencies, which Tony excuses for dying at the time. He then reads, "Textbook narcissism? ... Agreed.")
Katney: Hee, textbook narscissim

(Bottom line, Iron Man is recommended for the Avengers Initiative, but Tony Stark is not. "How can you approve me but not approve me?" Fury tells him that for now they only have use for him as a consultant. Tony initially refuses, saying they couldn't afford him, but he'll waive the charges for a favor. In Washington Tony and Rhodey are being honored for their act at the Expo. The favor? Getting Senator Stern to present the duo with their medals of honor and calling Tony a national treasure. >3 He pins the medals onto their suits, though he's not very gentle with Tony's. "Oh, sorry. Funny how annoying a little prick can be, isn't it?" They stand together to get their picture taken, Tony makes a peace sign. Credits roll.)

Katney: Heh, it's that guy who's been giving them grief

Katney: OK, fweeing to credit scene
Nee: surprising how annoying a little prick can be
(Fade in on a New Mexican dessert, where we watch a car drive through. When it stops we see the license plate reads New Mexico USA. Coulson steps out of the car and looks over a cliff, where many cars and people crowd around a huge crater. He turns away and speaks into his cellphone. "Sir, we've found it." The camera pans and reveals the hammer Mjolnir embedded in the crater. Cut to black with a clap of thunder. Film ends.)
