Smogon doesn't know what their talking about tbh, and i've been playing pokemon since blue. their tier lists are garbage and i never listened to em. they started shifting pokemon in and out of tier lists so much i gave up understanding their barbaric strategies that have little to no creativity.. i play with my favorites and make them win with whatever weird strategy i come up with because i can. and it works. i love getting that "i didn't expect that" reaction.
MHS on the other hand has only 4-5 GOOD monsters you can vary to win competitive fights with. My friend has 3000+ pvp wins to back that up. he uses the same team. use any other monstie set and you're at a huge disadvantage. im only talking from what i've seen, heard and fought myself. I chose not to go that route with monstie selection and i lost a ton against my friends. oh and not to mention your hunter is a curse, dying in 1 hit to literally air and you have to cover up their glaring flaw by way of that one skill. after starting to see the games true colors i lost interest.
Visually the game is ok, toony as usual, story is eh, generic big-bad awakening and you gotta stop it. aside from fighting as your rider too, it didn't bring much new.
I'm just talking again out of what I played against. it wasn't fun to copy paste just to have a good time with monsters i didn't care about.
I respect your opinion but, MHS just doesn't offer as much diversity as pokemon in terms of teambuilding. thats all.

Hey to each there own. I find that competitive pokemon can be completely broken at times without hard bans on certain gimmicks.
the advantage of the monstie system is you could make a Fire type water monstie to counter lots of stuff, but I find end game of most monster or unit based games comes down to a small pool that have higher numbers.
Still want to see a sequel though.
