Spoilers, something else weird happened. Because the main reason I wanted to accurately portray the mantis headshape was so I could do weird stuff to it, like usual.
They got big bug eyes on either side of their heads, but what if they bugged out way more? Well, now we know. And whoever finds her has a nice little pair of stress balls to squeeze.
Single panel images of each can be found in the Sketch folder of the Dropbox.

I really like these cute bug characters of yours!
Also I appreciate the silly, tricky situation that mantis is in, and how she needs to be careful about how she presses up against her giant balloon eyes with those sharp, jagged arms of hers
It's interesting, to be honest I didn't normally like when eyes get inflated but there's something about the way you've drawn & put focus on them in your pictures & stories that's making it real neat & appealing to me

Hey cool, actually pretty nice to hear that. I'm pretty well aware the eyes are a definite point of divisiveness on the head/face inflation stuff, since I guess it's just a step too far for a lot of people. Probably some understandable and natural instincts, to be fair. But that might be what I like about pumping them up into huge silly balloons, once I got into it. Because funny enough I used to absolutely hate head inflation stuff outright a couple years back. But then I guess a switch flipped at some point and now I can't get enough of it.
Glad to know I'm able to make even weird nonsense like this appealing on certain levels, for sure, thanks.
