
Fountain Pen Display Case, Commission
I am ever so excited to say that my very first commission is complete!
this was commissioned by
megafighter_x and I thank him for allowing me to push myself into realms that I had never thought I would be in. This is so much more then what I thought i would be making.
The main wood is Red Oak and the darker wood accents are African Sapele

I agree, there's been a dreadful fashion over here for painting over old furniture (made of quality woods like blackwood, ebony, teak, yellowwood, oregon pine and so forth) usually a plain white, or roughing up the paint to make it look rustic. Such a waste, better off buying plastic or low grade pine furniture if that's what you want.
oh, people are doing the exact same thing here in the US too. taking a $50us natural wood stool, painting it either white or some god awful teal or yellow, pitting and peeling the paint and charging at least $200us for a rustic/art deco/antique piece of "art" and the hipsters snatch them up because it's "retro" *facepalm*
