Yumi's story is a long and terrifying one; one full of alien, occultic happenings. Corruptions, and strange beasts... and one caused much of it. Ara, the cloaked, flaming beast that caused Yumi's earliest corruption, which would eventually, indirectly, lead to her having to transfer her essence to a mechanical body. But, Ara and her are still linked inexplicably. Ara ruined her life in some ways; but made it brilliant in other ways. And while Ara is eons old, they show some sign of kindness. They realize how much they upturned her life, and so now care for her as well as they can, despite Yumi not always wanting to listen to them.
It's a strange relation with the two, but Yumi, as the link between Ara's realm of the Vermillion and her own realm, carries on. And Ara cares for her, despite all.
