Just my own head canon here, but where did the Kirin come from? For my stories, they are the descendents of dragons and ponies that fell in love and went with it. So what happens when Ponyville's resident dragon gives up on a certain unicorn and finds out that a certain earth pony has had crush on him for years. Well he gets some good advice first, but eventually he marries that mare and has a rambuncitious kirin colt named Spiced Cider, now if they can just get the place fireproofed before he loses his temper one too many times.
