It hasn't snowed here yet, but I remember last year and the thick snow that always seemed to gather at the corner of Iris and the Transitway (the public transit-only freeway here in Ottawa) and the early morning walks down Iris to my job; passing snow men, bus stops and freshly-emptied houses. The air would freeze my nose, and the snow, still heavy on the sidewalks, would crunch under my hurried feet. The air was still and quiet and, at that hour, there wasn't a car in sight.
I know the road in the back is wonky. It was worse on the original, if you can believe it. I just smudged it into the background after having digitally removed the offending road. I know it's weird looking. Deal.
This started as a doodle on a steno pad and evolved into a proper drawing. I wanted to incorporate a familiar place as the background and I wanted to draw it from memory as best I could. I think it turned out alright, all told. There was pencil smudged everywhere in the original, I cleaned this one up a bit. The original can be found in my scraps.
