Althix is a bit of an outcast as a half cockatrice, her mother being an intelligent wild cockatrice while her father a crow of the eastern bird folk, so much like her mother she was seen as just another monster. She eventually found a place in the dragonkin enclave after befriending Tareena and becoming her apprentice, however even among the dragonkin she still felt out of place.

So when Grenka and Okuha arrive on day she becomes curious about the outside world again and decides to join them on their journey back to civilisation despite Tareena's warnings. The group is soon confronted by Tareena who wants to convince Althix to return to the enclave instead of facing the dangers of the world, however Grenka sticks up for Althix and manages to talk Tareena out of taking her back even vowing to look after her.

Though Tareena reluctantly agrees she does give her blessing to Althix and they resume their journey.
Eventually Grenka and Althix become close friends, sharing a common wanderlust as well as being seen as monsters by most people.
