When the knock at the motel door came, early in the evening, Kat and Dee were getting ready to go out
for some dinner, planning to leave Ivan behind, snoozing, and bring him back a burger or some left-over pizza.
Kat went the door and opened it. She had no fear of opening up for a stranger since she was ready to instantly
transform to her were shape if it should prove to be someone dangerous. She knew she could handle just about anything in her were form, and of course Ivan and Dee were there too should she need backup. But when she peered out onto the fading light what she saw was a petit, good looking lady skunk of about her own age who seemed a little nervous.
'Are you Dee or Kat Salsipuedes?', the skunkette inuired.

'Yes, I'm Kat, what can I do for you?'

'Ummm......well, actually if what I've heard is true, maybe there is something I could do for you', was the reply.
'There are tales floating all over the place of Kat and Dee Salsipuedes, a married were couple who are searching for a way to change the sequence of their transformations. That would be you?'

'Tales you say? People know about us?'

'Oh yes! You and the werewolf you travel with are getting quite a lot of notoriety all over the countryside. Apparently some of the people you've talked to have talked to others, and well........the word travels. You guys are almost legends already! Especially after your Las Vegas Elvis wedding. That was in the papers all over the place. Didn't you know?'

'I'll be damned! You hear that Dee? We're famous. Ha ha. Why don't you come in and introduce yourself and tell us how it is that you think you could help us?'

'Thank you! My name is Kyah, and I heard about your predicament from a friend of a friend of a voodoo lady who lives in Louisiana, a Madame Boudreaux. You should know that I am a shape changer too, though not a were like you all are. My grandmother taught me how to change using a spell, and I can turn into a wolf. Not a feral one like your father seems to be, but a wolf girl, a lot like you.'

The three of them take seats while Ivan continues to sleep, hidden behind the bed.

'Glad to meet you Kyah. So what are you thinking? That maybe your grandmother's spell would help one of us change while the other didn't? Is that it?

'Exactly so! I thought that if it worked on your mate, Dee, and I understand he was male to begin with, you two could possibly be in phase with each other.'

'I'll tell you, Kyah. So far ever since the night at Madame Boudreaux's, nothing we've tried has made the slightest
difference. We haven't experienced any changes other than our usual ones at all. So I can't see what harm it would do to try your grandmother's spell. What do you think, Dee?'

'What the heck. We've tried so many things. I'm for it if you are'

'I'm game. So, Kyah. How does your spell work and what exactly would we have to do?'

'It's just a spoken spell with a few hand gestures. Only takes a minute. I have two copies of my grandmother's spell book we can use. I can show you the process by changing to my wolf form and then the next time, Dee, you and I can say and do it together, so you can follow along with me. I'll change back, and you should change to your other, male shape. Sound good?'

'Yeah, let's do it.'

Standing up, Kyah handed a book titled 'Majic' to Dee and recited the spell from her copy while making the gestures, and so quickly did she change to wolf that it wasn't even possible to see! Just one moment she was a skunk and the next, a wolf. Dee and Kat were so startled that they both just stood and stared!

'See how easy?

'All right', Dee exclaimed. 'Looks easy as anything. I'm ready.'

Kat moved to stand beside Dee in order to watch, and all was in readiness.

So, as Kyah once again went through the words and gestures, Dee followed along, reading from the spell book and making the gestures along with her. A little part of him also thought about Kat, and how pleased she would be if this worked right. As the spell finished, there was a bright multicolored flash of light.
Kyah stood in front of him in her original skunk form, and Dee could feel that he was his original gender, but something was wrong. His tail felt WAY too heavy for starters, and when he turned to Kat to ask her what he looked like, she was standing there with a pair of long rabbit ears standing tall from her head and a stunned look on her face.

'Wha...? Kat, what's wrong with my tail? And why do you have bunny ears?', Dee whispered urgently.

'Oh my dear Goddess! You..you're a skunk, Dee!!!! And I've turned into my bunny form? Oh no! Kyah! What should we do now?"

About then, Kyah, suddenly looked at a wrist on which a watch was conspicuously absent,
said 'Oh my, look at the time! I have to run', and bolted out the door, disappearing instantly into the dusk, an evil
laugh trailing out behind her.
