I started this piece 4 years ago. It was my first try at something more complex than my usual creatures, and one of the first pieces designed with a gallery, rather than companionship, in mind. Back then, though, I ran into some technical difficulties, and shelved her until recently. Now I'm pleased to say that she’s finally finished!
Moon Child's human parts are sculpted in Super Sculpey and hand painted, with inset glass eyes. Her wolf body is felted, with a mixed core, wire armature, alpaca surface, and matching glass eyes. The base is a hand painted birch slice with a star map of the northern hemisphere's winter sky.
This piece is going to be shown at the Community Arts show at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education from February 21st to April 27th, and will be available for sale there with part of the proceeds benefitting the center! If you’re in the Philadelphia area, come say hi at the reception on February 21st!
