8.5" x 11", pencil, chipboard.
This is a work in progress to test a technique of combining digital and real media.
I drew this quick image of ur-badass Venger, Force of Evil, on simple chipboard.
Scanned it in at super high resolution, and will now begin the "underpainting" digitally.
I'll print it out, affix it to board under gel medium and finish it as a real media painting, etc.
I have a commissioned image that I'll make with this technique, after working out the method
on Venger here, first.
UPDATE: digital underpainting here.
UPDATE: final image here.

Paper is fragile and inks are fugitive, yes. However proper care will preserve these things long enough to be enjoyed as needed, I would think. Also, in this case, I'll be
basically sealing the printed image between two layers of acrylic medium, which is a
plastic, effectively laminating the material. And my painting process also includes
using further sealing layers and fixatives and a final UV protection varnish on top.
So I'm not so worried about it. The commissions should certainly last the lifetime of
those who purchase them. And frankly, as an illustrator, I'm much more concerned
with the reproduction than the original.

Ugh, I'm an idiot and messed up the link. Also, boo to being unable to edit/delete comments.
Here's the right one.
