After doing the digital painting, I import the image to another piece of software. This converts the RGB values to thread colours. I put a hard limit of 200 colours (out of a possible 505).

I wasn't so sure about the blues on this one. Historically, blues cause me a lot of trouble, but this worked out very nicely. The final dimensions are 200x200, and will be just under 9x9" when it's complete.
