Storm dragons are an interesting breed. Built with all the senses of other dragons for flight: orientation, direction, altitude, speed, ability to "see" wind currents, heat, static buildup, and even a 3d model of what is around them, they are built for flight, even in the harshest conditions. The main difference between them and other dragons is that rather than being able to occasionally take to the air, they instead are built around staying aloft for a majority of their lives, finding safety in the sky. Furthermore, through their obvious namesake, their defensive weapon: the thunderbolt of the old god, Zeus. Having spoken with many at length (they are quite chatty creatures, contrary to what many of you may believe, they simply disdain crowds.) I've learned quite a bit about their species. Furthermore, as a mage, healer, and scholar, I've been given the rare opportunity to discover how their wondrous and terrifying weapon works. The storm dragon, unlike all others, intentionally guides themselves towards those static fields generated by thunderstorms, feeling the current building on their scales they move themselves to the center of that charge, waiting for that lightning to form. Then, they put themselves in the path of said charge, and let it strike and flow through their bodies. From there, through magical means only available to those creatures who are magic themselves, they guide that bolt into an internal organ and seal it off for later use. The organ is a marvelous invention of nature, vastly different from all other organs I have seen, being only partially organic. By creating this half rubber organ, they allow themselves to store that energy until needed, with hardly any effort. Naturally, this is quite dangerous and is why storm dragons are dangerous years after death, and why many a corpse has been a source of fires, or scorching of the earth around them. None the less, it is a magnificent marvel of nature, and I hope to one day be able to create something similar.

This commission is absolutely astounding, to the point where I think I would've paid the artist the same just for the sketch without color, let alone this beautiful creation. You can all thank
Leilryu for creating such a beautiful piece <3
