If I need to change this to Mature for naughty bits that are only outlined but not detailed..... Let me know and I'll get to it asap.... o.0 Don't want anyone pissed off. *eye twitch*
I've been thinking about it, and finally found a suitable "real life cat breed" that suits me. The Maine Coon is what I'm aiming for, and I'd like to know what you think.
I'm still wonderfully new to drawing, so be kind, but I'd like general opinions and KINDLY advice on what I might be missing. Don't tell me "YOU HAVE IT WRONG", but tell me what is off to your eyes. You may show me something I haven't seen. But as far as I am concerned, I have nothing WRONG, only improvable. That said... does she look properly shaped for a Maine Coon? The hands are teh suck. I am horrible at hands, and am working on it.. but this is the best I can manage for now. Are her ears a bit too large? Her tail is admittedly longer than a Maine Coon, but I think I like her having a longer tail..
BTW!! Her colors will be shown later on! Those that expect colorful... you may be shocked. She's going to be naturally colored. I need an offset to my more.. "vivid" form. (it is possible that this version of me may get her own account)
Art © to me.
Oh, and yes, I see my signature pasted all over her, it will be moved once she's not a WIP.

Ah, a Maine Coon cat! That's the breed my cat is!
Now, on to the critique.
The first and most noticeable issue is in the legs. Compared to the rest of the body, they're extremely stocky, and the footpaws seem rather over-sized. I'll deal with the footpaws first. What it looks like you've done, based on my own experience, is created a hybrid somewhere between plantigrade (human) and digitigrade (animal) legs. This has resulted in what I dub "clown shoe syndrome." Your toes are splayed quite wide, like a human's, but also rounded like paws, which makes them disproportionately large.
Now, about the legs and tail. I mentioned that the legs seem stocky, but then I noticed the tail, and how it was as smooth as the legs, the rest of the body, and most short-haired cat tails. Mane coons are fluffy. Very fluffy. And their leg and tail hair is quite long, which is why my cat is named "Rosita Furrypants." When I consider that, the legs don't nearly look so stocky; they're just too smooth to be fluffy.
The solution is to take the principle you applied to the elbow, where the fur fluffs due to the joint bending, and apply that to the entire length of the legs and tail. Remember, what you've drawn is an appropriate outer boundary for the floof, so don't add any more volume to the legs lest you become M.C.Hammer. If, on the other hand, you didn't want the legs fluffy, the simple solution is to make them skinnier. The tail should still look fluffy no matter what, though.
One final point: The shoulders are rather broad and masculine. consider bringing them closer together, and smooth the slope of the trapezius muscles to make a much more feminine body type.
Hope that helps!

Ok.... you once said a person tends to first draw how they themselves are made.... that right up there ↑ is me. I have broad shoulders, a defined but thick waist, and "big bada BOOM" stocky legs. And I'm sure Os will tell you, I certainly have a feminine body type. It's stocky and curvy, and beautiful just as much as the ittybitty waist curvy, or the bangin hips small tits, or the oversized boobs normal body, or the twigs, or the Jessica Rabbit body, or any other. I will be doing the real body type meme where I take a picture and draw my fursona over it to show the real body type.. you'll see what I mean. Besides, Maine Coons ARE stocky.
And now concider the fluffy aspect. The ONE place I have the fur showing that it's there, is the elbow, which means... I had already intended to go back and change much (this is obviously a rough draft, I mean hey, look at those lines). I just needed to know if I was going in the right direction with her shape. Not be told I was doing it wrong, but what looked off to you. You have given me a mix of "this is what I see that's off" (which I thank you for) and "you're doing it wrong, this is the right way" (which I'm inclined to tear you a new one, but I think my words here are enough).
Even Maine Coons are not all alike. Some look like fuzzy tabby cats with huge floofy tails, while others are straight black and white, and even calico shows up. Some are longer haired than others.
As for the feet... she IS a mix between human and cat... and Maine Coons have awmagawd huge feet. XD
Last note: About the broad shoulders and 'more feminine body type'... Thank you, for what counts to me as an insult to naturally made and diverse bodied women, should we all be thin boned and scrawny twigs with T&A to be considered attractive and feminine?

My apologies. I really didn't mean to force suggestions down your throat.
(I need to stop listening to my Dad, that's the way he talks, and one of my biggest fears is becoming like him.)
Also, the feminine body type remarks were a regurgitation of lessons I learned in Life Drawing class, and were given as general rules. It was my mistake for not mentioning that; I meant no harm regarding your actual body.
PS. Maine Coons look ridiculous after a bath.

I will admit to being pretty riled up, you can ask Os and Stoker, and I was trying so hard to not reply with a really bad response. I hope I didn't jump down your throat. And really, now that I've calmed down and gotten this reply from you, it's water under the bridge. *hug*
