Another commision for Cornelius van Richten at http://corneliusvanrichten.deviantart.com/ Returning to the forests of the Starfall Mountains, this time we're getting an aerial view augmented with dynamic close-up dragon action. Seen just before liftoff in a previous commission, they have evidently been at cruising altitude for some time now. This photo was taken scant moments after the photographer experienced overwhelming confusion as to what could be hurtling towards him, and scant moments before his conscious time in this life concluded. Possibly implicated in this fly-by dragoning is Cornelius’ character Meian seen here riding his mount, Houki-Boshi, through the starlit night. It was especially fun rendering this dragon in a night setting, with the excellent color contrast opportunities latent between the deep dark blues and molten oranges.

It really is a very nice work. The colors and the "feel" of the piece. The look to Meian is really great, his overall look, his perspective and outfit he wears. Love the glow of Houki-Boshi. The one things that I love are the smaller details like the little reflections in the waterfalls and the soft glow around the stars. }:=)

...I personally think an anthro-hyena would somehow make it better. But in my mind, anthro-hyenas would somehow make anything better, so disregard that.

Wow! Why have I not seen this in all it's epicness?? I also LOOOOVE the description! It so made me chuckle! I love the shading and lighting on this as well! Oh OH, and the scales! LOl I just love this pic! I need to take some lessons on lighting and shading from you guys! I still suck with the cellage lol.
