I'm well aware of how old this thread is, but I think a simple explanation can clear up the confusion. There is a growing divide among both transgender and cisgender individuals about what it means to be transgender. Specifically, whether or not the Truscum viewpoint is correct, or the Transtrender viewpoint is correct.

Truscum (also called Transmedicalism), sees it as being closer to Transsexual, and that true-trans must involve HRT, counseling, a mental disorder diagnosis, and tend to fall into the category of "brain in the wrong body" concept. This medical/psychological gate-keeping of sorts, is believed to be used in order to scientifically legitimize transgender, in particular to a more bigoted and/or conservative population.

Transtrender, which I do not know a kinder name for, holds the belief that not all Trans people experience dysphoria, and therefor, outside of maybe some counseling, access to sex confirmation surgeries and HRT should not be locked behind a mental health diagnosis. Additionally, this group is also much more accepting of non-binary gender identities, is far less concerned with genitalia, and cites that while reproductive capabilities are basically divided into 2 categories, the physical body itself, and sometimes genetics, does not line up neatly into 2 categories, or at least not as neatly as some factions want to believe.

Personally I do not believe either category perfectly summarizes the Transgender experience, but generally I feel that it's usually safer to pursue inclusion and diversity than exclusion nor purity. Similar happens to females in the womb, causing a similar effect...

Furries have been nothing but a constant stream of drama and witch-hunting since I became aware it was a thing. I would say that I am one, but every time I tried to interact with others, I was left not wanting more. There's always been too much ego and too little professionalism, but it's fairing even worse in an age of outrage and politicization.

I maintain this account only for reasons of artistic appreciation.

To be honest, a person's past shouldn't be brought into limelight no matter how severe the problems were or popular someone is.
In my opinion, flaws, mistakes or faults someone have made and people consistently bringing it up doesn't get us anywhere.
I seen a lot of comments, wiki stuff, feedback on these two and its really negative.

I do hope things get better. I just recently join this community and now I fear for it being in it.

Don't fear this community. I have been a furry since the mid-80's (yeah, I'm a greymuzzle) and I can tell you that I dealt with furry drama this poisonous back in the 90's. I promise you that this drama-storm shall pass as they all do. I have met many wonderful fans and friends in this fandom (ditto for the brony fandom as well) and I stick to those guys and gals like glue.
I suppose one thing you could do is go on Youtube and watch video by nice furry folks like Adler the Eagle, Ash Coyote and Stormi the Folf. (To name a few.) They are devoid of toxic drama and are well-informed, good natured people.
To me these folks represent the best aspects of this fandom.
I hope you stick around. We are far more than just toxic drama. I promise you that.

I also thought about this...I basicly have. Me and my husband can't take it anymore...all the zealotry and hate for what was such a loving and accepting community. I don't know when it started happening but it picked up in the last 4 years. Dust and I are tried of losing friends for politics and just want to play with friends whom just want to have fun and enjoy life. We are tired...and while being in the fandom since 2006 I loved every moment of it...the good and the bad.

The problem comes that we have massive politcal groups who target eatch other and then they target thouse who dont want to be a part of it.We have people who want control and bragging rights but wont do anything productive unless it involves violance or bigitory,I lost quite a few freinds over polotics and such when things would get taken way to far.Right now the USA is in a poltical nightmare where every social group is trying to take control of the goverment and useing "moral highgrounds" to obtain it,and for thouse of us who want nothing to do with it.We still see/feel the backlash of it all.It's not just a problem in the furry community it's a problem in every community.From what I have seen the furry community just gets hit very hard because we dont have a poltical party backing so we are targets for everyone.

I don't enjoy the mob mentality, but even just what I've seen while following the account... I like Jason's art and I'm sad to see it stop. But I didn't need the occasional "All Furries are toxic you should all be ashamed" in my feed every once in a while. Essentially my only issue is that they got payed by people, drew porn, and then decided that the people who payed them needed to be scolded for paying them... I'm just confused.

To my experience, the folks that actually pay for their comms and stuff weren't treated poorly. patrons really aren't(I see the same posts everyone else does and i never felt personally attacked in any way as a patron) and the "furries are toxic" i agree, Jason hasn't been treated very well and takes out the vocal minority's bullshit on the whole fandom and it makes me sad, but any large group of people is going to have this level of toxicity. mainstream stuff like sports fans or comic nerds, everyone forms cliques and gets "mean girls-y" and neither side of the situation tend to act like normal friggin people.
i wish it had been easier for them to shake it off, but it wasn't and this is just how things are.
in the end it doesn't really affect our daily lives.

Those that treat parody as fact and try to bully creators into submission, aren't the demographic I'm targeting with my content. Those that actually support us financially, never speak in this capacity. These are the angry voices of the entitled. Perceiving content as a constant, effortless stream. Giving those types of people a platform is not productive.

You spotted out the only truth to the hit piece correctly. Me replying in a condescending manner on e621 five years ago is true, that seems to be the sole reason for all the hate. You can now combine that with Identity Politics and how we refuse to come to heel on said matters.

Those that want to listen and support our content will continue to do so, those that want to hate will do the same.

Well I do have to agree on a few things you said but It might be too long for the comments to handle but I’ll try to highlight a few things. Yes I know people can not use common sense sometimes, yes I know some arts are treated like crap and yes I know billions of people can be difficult.

And there’s a lot of stuff I could say but I aready said my piece in my comment and you have in your so I think we can be very human about this and agree to disagree on One thing or another. But if you wish you could send me a note and we can discuss this more if you like if not that’s cool also thank you for the nice comment I needed that for my day.
