This is just a math nerd's view on the question "What is life?".
This just kinda popped into my head today. Figured I'd share just for the heck of it. It isn't art per say, seeing as how it was just done quickly using Photoshop's text tool, but it has meaning. I've been considering getting a tattoo for awhile, but I wanted it to be something personal. After coming up with this, I'm thinking this might be just what I was looking for for an easy first tattoo. At some point I'm going to go back into photoshop and add some flare to it and make it a little more interesting. If you have any comments or ideas that you think might make it better, please feel free to post. I love hearing ideas from others, they usually help me come up with something good.

Yeah, an integral "x dx" with limits birth and death would make more sense. Also I'd use x or n instead of i, to save confusion (unless of course you were thinking imaginary numbers...)
Anyway, if it's a tatto, stick with the summation. Looks ok, and it gets the message across better.

Hmm... You might have to explain to me how an integral would work better. As it is now it's set up in Summation Notation and means "The sum of everything from the starting point (Birth) to the ending point (Death)". Meaning that Life is the sum of everything that happens between life and death.
Though I do like the limit idea too...
If we change its meaning and say something about what the meaning you a life is, then I think it would make sense to find that as
Lim(x -> death, Life(x)=x)

Hmm. That makes sense. I guess it depends on how you look at it. Maybe it would make more sense if it wasn't the definition f life, but rather the the question of what make me who I am. Then it would be the sum of all the events experienced from birth till death. I understand how an integral would fit a little better, but I don't know if an integral would look as neat as a tattoo. Perhaps I'll have to set one up like that and see how it looks.
