so here’s a D&D character I’m super invested in even tho I’ve never played D&D and actually know jack shit abt it, but listen…. Hero Forge inspired me……….
Gwen here is a chaotic good rogue– she likes to think she’s only out for her own gain, but deep down she’s a softy for those in need. she’d consider herself a smoothtalker with a talent for comedy, but most consider her a bit of a nuisance. when Gwen finds herself in a bind, she tries to go for a “talk it out” approach most of the time, but her unintentional bluntness usually results in a brawl– not that she’s complaining, she loves the rush of a good tussle. she’s slow to anger, usually happy to laugh her worries away, but when Gwen does reach the tipping point, she’s a wildfire of rage
few ppl know that Gwen was actually born blind, b/c they assume her facial injuries caused her blindness. Gwen never dissuades these assumptions, b/c it gives her the opportunity to bullshit some epic tale about how she lost her sight. the truth is that the injuries were from a barfight, when her opponent gouged out her face w/ a broken bottle. when the healers later told her they couldn’t save her eyes, she just laughed at their solemn delivery. she only wears a cloth over her eyes b/c she heard it makes ppl look mysterious, and she’s always out to look as cool as possible
most ppl who first meet Gwen think her rat (Clementine) is her seeing-eye rat, but not so! Gwen can navigate using scent and sound just fine. Gwen just loves rats, and esp loves Clem. Clem can, however, understand just abt any language, written or spoken, so she can translate most anything for Gwen. however, this rat is a true neutral (or, as Gwen would describe her, a Fickle Bitch), so Clem will only translate if she’s in the proper mood, or is given a tempting reward (namely crackers). Clem is dismissive– if not hostile– towards everyone but Gwen
I don’t know much abt D&D draconic lore, but I also came up w/ some headcanons for my take on draconic people. u might have noticed the threads tied around Gwen’s horns– draconic folk in my lore have a passion for display and flair, and have taken to tying intricate designs between their horns. these designs vary quite a bit, and could be as thickly-woven as a blanket, or more loose with a focus on beadwork. some even incorporate audio elements, such as bells and chimes. I haven’t decided exactly what I want Gwen’s to look like b/c there are several reasons for her to not rly care much for it: 1) she’s blind, so she doesn’t rely much on appearances, and 2) it’s not in her interest to wear identifying marks when she’s a rogue. I’m considering hanging a little pouch between Gwen’s horns for Clem to sleep in, but I’m not sure how that would work out
