The only suggestion I have is from an engineering standpoint. It sounds like you are either playing in a HUGE hall, or a sewer. I think it is probably the mic placement on the cello. It sounds like the mic is IN the cello. If thats the case, try using an external mic that favors the string portion to the body by about 60%:40%. And try backing it up. (if that isn't the case (mic is away from the body) then try moving the mic closer... low strings are a bitch to mic.)

Actually, I normally play with an electric violin, for obvious reasons. :D

But, my current electric violin broke a week ago, so I'm using my acoustical equipment.

I'm waiting for my new violin to come in. :D

Good times. I would just keep those suggestions in mind, though. Sometimes there are places where the timbre of a acoustic violin properly miked fits so much better than electric. But again, dude, that was awesome.

It's extremely hard to make an acoustical sound as good as an electric when it's not live.

Granted, you need some good equipment to start, but all in all, mic placement is key.

The cello I use (for recording) cost a little over 300 after shipping...O.o

The acoustic I got is extremely good. Its tone is fantastic; it can even play over wolf notes relatively well.

I still prefer electric. :D
