Hey guys. I did a bit of refreshing on the earlier chapters, made some changes and introduced a character whom I have not had the pleasure of showing many. The mystery Charizard that our young heroes encountered, Blaze, a unique Charizard who rather than hard, fireproof scales...is a furred dragon. I hope you guys enjoy.

Unnatural reunion
What an odd wake up call...Blaze...Such was the name of the Charizard that had recently gobbled up all of the heroes, had finally woken up. He rumbled as he'd awoken to find he couldn't move. When he opened one eye to see what the culprit was...he found he was only a few feet above ground. That wasn't right...He wasn't a Charmander was he...?
Craning his neck down, he finally discovered the root of his problem. He was trapped in a large hole! Even more surprising was how he managed to fit PERFECTLY within it...as if his dimensions had been smoothly carved out into the earth's surface. No wonder he couldn't move anything. "What...happened...Why am I in a hole...?"
His answer came to him as a low rumbling sound came from deep within his gut, belching out several belongings that made him cock an eyeridge.
“A pair of goggles…two poke gears…and a red looking disc…surrounded in an everstone?” Blaze tilted his head, and tried maing sense of the items. Obviously he'd devoured someone...or perhaps more than one.
He'd turned his head when a bright flash from the two pokegears had suddenly threatened to blind him. Max and Flare appeared, fully formed and fully clothed right in front of him. Next to them...the everstone glowed faintly before a Charmeleon started growing around it. It'd had one organic eye, with the everstone acting as the other, artificial one...But where did the goggles come from...did it belong to either one of them?
“Ugh…I can’t believe Jesse didn’t help us out of that mess!” The Charmeleon roared, shaking off the slime that remained on the lens of his prosthetic eye. “YOU owe me at least thirty cheese burgers Max!” The Charmeleon was speaking in it’s own language, but it seemed that only the human with the long blonde hair seemed to understand any of it. “Where’s Hackmon?”
Max began cleaning this pokegear, groaning at the slime that covered it and was grateful for his uncle’s worksmanship to leave it immune to digestive acids. He checked the inventory of his pokegear and smiled. “Everyone’s safe in here…Good thing my Uncle added a Poke PC function in our digivices, nobody is gone. And-“
Max was force onto his butt when Hackmon seemed to spring forth from the pokegear to grab at his goggles. “Your plan worked Max…but it was very messy…”
A strange dragon with a red cape had sprung forth from the pokegear! It didn't look like any pokemon that Blaze knew of...but what frustrated him most, was the fact these trainers were blatantly ignoring him.
"Hey..." Nothing came out of it...they continued to converse among the four of them. "You humans..." Again...he was once again ignored. It eventually hit the tipping point, and a flamethrower shot out of his muzzle between Max and Hackmon. "Hey!! It's nice that you guys are safe and all...I'm happy about that. But could I get a hand out of this hole? It's too tight..."
Hackmon and Max didn’t seem worried about being torched, and the dragon digimon put the goggles on his forehead after cleaning it. “You’re not going to eat us again are you?” Hackmon moved a bit closer to check the Charizard’s eyes. “He’s normal now, ack!”
Blaze had snapped his jaws at the Hackmon. Not intending to bite, so much as tease the small dragon. "I'm not particularly hungry right now, but if I don't get some help soon...I can't be held responsible for what I might do..."
Max rubbed the back of his head, but he gave in. “Okay, you sound like a dragon friend of mine…wonder where he is right now. ANYWAY.” He grabbed one of Sheriff’s hand claws, as did Hackmon. “Now…PUUUUUULL!”
Both tamer and digimon pulled with all their might, but they couldn’t make the fat zard budge from his prison. “urrrrgh! Grapple was too precise in creating this hole!!” Max had cried out, a few seconds later losing his grip and landing on his butt. “owww…” he rubbed his back side. “There’s got to be a better way. Hey why not digivolve!”
Hackmon’s face was blushing at this point out of embarrassment for the situation. “BaoHuckmon is not for pulling people out of holes! It’s for stopping the corruption! And if you digivolve me for this I swear I’ll eat you before you can even protest!”
“Alright alright…” Max knew that Hackmon meant it judging by the color on his face. But then Hackmon always took things seriously, and never digivolved unless it was absolutely necessary. Then the thought hit Max. “Your partner showed up to you right?” He asked Flare as the trainer and his Charmeleon were approaching the zard, ready to help pull him out.
“Yeah, He showed up on the island about a year ago…he said that he selected me as his digidestined...Did you send him to me?” Flare asked, already grabbing a claw.
Shaking his head, Max didn’t grab the other claw just yet. “No. He asked to be partnered with you. He said that watching you in the starlight tournament was reason enough to request being your partner. I’m guessing you accepted?”
Flare waited for Max to grip the claw, as did Hackmon and Charmeleon as they used their combined muscles to pull as hard as they could. An odd squishing sound could be heard in the hole, followed by the resistance from the hole getting smaller…it was working. With a final tug, Blaze was pulled free from his hole and landed on top of them clumsily.
“Ugh…well you’re free now! Say…what’s your name?” Max asked, squirming underneath the Zards bulk.
The masisve Charizard pulled his furred gut away from the four that'd helped him and stood up with a relieved sigh. "Thank you so much for the help. My friends call me Blaze." From there, he began to explain that where he'd come from...humans were just a myth...and pokemon were the only creatures that roamed the earth.
“Well Blaze..., we’re glad to have you back to normal then. My name is Max.” Max pointed towards himself and then gestured to his partner. “This here is Hackmon, the one that you ate first…and Flare and Charmeleon.” He gestured to the others with a smile, then began to explain what happened while he was out, and why their belongings were in his stomach in the first place.
Narrowing his eyes, Blaze began to gain a grasp of what it was that was going on thanks to Max's explanation. But something didn't make sense. "...right...I think I understand. A little red shard found it's way inside of my stomach...and I started eating everyone in sight...? And you're telling me I was transported off to another world...oh no..." The furred Charizard brought his claws to his muzzle for a moment, looking worried but kept his attention on the humans. "So...if I help you guys...there's a chance I might be able to get back home again...?"
Max nodded a few times, looking glad that Blaze understood. “That’s about what covers it. So how about it? Want to give us a hand? We’ll be able to get you home the quicker we catch these guys.”
"I'll do my best! I'm not sure how much help I'll be though. Do you know who to look for?" Blaze's eyes showed skepticism but a visual curiosity. "I guess if it were THAT easy though...You'd have this whole case solved already huh? Alright! Where to?"
“The Indigo plateau. That’s where the Johto league silver conference is being held. Whoever is causing this…they’re purposely putting you and the other corrupted in the direction of the competition.” Max stared into the cavern that was in front of them, and took a breath. “We have a looong way to go. So we may as well get to it. The competition starts in a few days.”
In an unknown location in the digital world, Dragon type digimon were sitting together in a big campground. They looked like they were ready to go into battle at any second. Standing among the crowd was Examon, a normally gargantuan sized digimon known to be the greatest of all the royal knights. But after the Darkness…the knights had disbanded as they no longer had the numbers to form a tight knit group, so many who still survived, formed small camps of their own to protect the digital world in their own way. Standing in a small ring were two such dragon types that were part of Examon’s following. An Arresterdramon was standing on the right side, while a Strikedramon was standing on the opposite end. Examon gave the signal for the two of them to begin, their claws meeting each other in a deadly match that would he hoped, allow them to become better warriors as a result. He watched the Arresterdramon move in circles around the Strikedramon, clearly having the advantage, but after a short while, the strikedramon was beginning to anticipate and even counter his opponants battle style.
A Reptiledramon was standing right beside Examon. He was the former knights second in command. While not evolutionarily advanced compared to the two in the ring, the rumors going around were how he had been a runner up to being Zhuqiaomon’s guardian champion to replace Chaos. Though he was just narrowly beaten by the latter, he did have a chunk of armor missing on the far right spike of his helmet due to the encounter. “Our number increases every day sir. But can I ask why you’re working them so hard to be the best?”
“You don’t need to be formal with me Rapier…You’ve already proven that if you wanted too, you could become a royal knight.” Examon began to step away from the battle, with Rapier following behind him. “you originated in the East right? Even though you battled for dominance in the south. Why was that?”
Rapier, which is to say, the Reptiledramon followed, but the questions normally asked by his leader had some words of wisdom behind them, so he answered truthfully. “I believed that Blade was the one destined to become Azulongmon’s guardian, and heir. There was no sense remaining when they already had capable warriors in Silver and Blade. But I heard Zhuqiaomon always had trouble keeping a guardian in their post so I decided that he needed someone powerful to endure the storm that was coming.”
“mmm” Examon simply hummed as he listened to Rapier recount his reasoning. “so you felt that there was a danger coming. Now look at them.” He turned his head to look back at the group battling one at a time within the ring. “They sense that same impending danger. I do too. We’re not ready for it…so we have to get there faster. Even I, with my vast powers will fall on my own.”
Most digimon who would hear that the greatest dragon digimon would fall at the hands of their enemy would go pale and lose hope in their futures. Rapier however remained solid, looking to the ring as the Strikedramon had been victorious. “Maybe on your own…but together we’ll be strong.”
That got another nod from Examon, who turned to a certain blue dragon with a rainbow pattern etched into his stomach, he looked frustrated. “This one here would help in our goals. But with Yggdrasil back in operating form, he’s lost the form that made him crucial in our plans. Unless he gets that body back, then all our efforts might be wasted…”
“Indigo plataeuuuuu here we are!” Flare shouted with joy, finally getting out of that stuffy cave brought with the young firecracker trainer a fresh dose of excitement and exhilaration. He sniffed the air and was relieved that he could see the blue sky. “This will be your first time Max. Hope you don’t lose in the first round!”
Max and the rest of the group were coming up behind Flare, relieved just as much to be out of the caverns. “Well…let’s go get registered. We’ll see who our first challengers will be once the signups have ended.” Flare was already running up the staircase, with his Charmeleon with an embarrassed look on his face, following after him.
"Hey that does sound like fun. How about we have a race to beat them to the top?" Blaze asked with a friendly smirk, however without giving them a chance to give him an answer, he grabbed both Max, and Hackmon in his claws, pressed them to his soft, warm stomach and shot off into the air.
Flare barely noticed the blur but he felt the wind, and his jaws gaped open when Blaze and the others easily cleared out the stairway. "You should have waited. Next time, I'll carry everyone inside my belly. I won't have to worry about dropping any of you that way." He gave his belly a few playful pats after he'd set Max and Hackmon down.
“Don’t even think about it! Max is for my snack time! Not yours.” Hackmon growled, staring up at the Charizard.
“Gee thanks for sounding like you care Hackmon…glad to know I’m more than just a piece of meat to you…” Max got a glare from the small dragon. Though on the inside, he knew Hackmon did care. And him staking claim over the boy was his way of trying to keep him safe. “Anyway let’s get registered! I can’t wa-“
“You can’t what?” Hackmon asked, then noticed Max looked frozen. He turned to look at whatever had Max’s attention and saw a young boy, around 13 years of age with long brown hair poking out of what looked like a bug catchers cap and a Bulbasaur being carried around in it’s arms. There was a pendant around the boy’s neck, with an Articuno statue at the end of it dangling as he ran. “Max…? do you know that boy?”
Max remained quiet…Sheriff waved a clawed hand in front of the boy as neither he, nor Hackmon could get a response. After a minute, Hackmon got fed up with the silence and was about to pierce Max’s leg with a claw like he had in the ice cavern when Max started running to the nearest phone. “Max…?”
He still didn’t get any response…Max had immediately called home, to which his mother answered the call quick. “Hey honey! It looks like you’ve grown a bit since you last spoke to me…I hope you-“
“I don’t have time!” Max exclaimed, taking a breath as he tried to calm himself down. “Mom…you remember the photo’s that you used to take out when I was little…? I need you to show them to me again.”
Both Hackmon and Blaze walked over to Max’s side, looking confused, until a slideshow of photo’s came onto the phone’s video screen. Several of them showed the same boy with a bulbasaur either on his head, on his lap, or generally chewing on some berries along with it’s trainer. “Max it’s the same kid. Is there a point to this?”
“Wait…” The image on screen returned to Max’s mother. “you say…you SAW him?”
Max looked pale, like he’d just seen a ghost but he nodded, and after swallowing a lump in his throat he answered. “It’s him…He shouldn’t be alive anymore…or even at that age but it’s him…Mom…it’s gramps…”
