There are many ways to compose your own music. But basically I'm starting with a simple melodyline and try out which chords fits. Then I record the tracks with "magix video deluxe" (its actually a video editing software but you can use it also for music). For the drums I often use "Drumsite 1.7" or "Finale 2008".
