Khu Alecani Clothing Concepts
For Patreon, I've been doing more loose cultural exploration of the Dimali tribes in TeaFeathers (Dimali is the joint society of the Alecani, pictured here, and the Pylura). Tunics and loincloths are par for the course in every tribe, but each one does them slightly different. The loincloth with rope and tassels in the lower right is a distinctly Khu piece of clothing. They adorn themselves and their canyon homes with a lot of decorative ropes (like shimenawa, shinto prayer ropes). The colorful layered regalia with the hat might be worn by a shaman who lives in or near a shrine, and whose job it is to care for the shrine and speak to the spirit living there. Cultural inspiration for the Khu include shinto and pueblo influences.
Alecani are just as often seen in the nude too, with whatever decorative adornments they've chosen for themselves. I'm still not sure what I want Nym's standard outfit(s) to be like, so this was a good exercise for that future bit of design!
