(you may need to turn up your volume- the level had to be set low for the large range of dynamics in this submission. Very soft and quite loud at times- sorry)
Barber is one of the great composers of the 20th century... and yet everyone somehow forgets about him when lists of “great composers” are made. I think I said that about someone else recently, but it's true of Barber as well. Heheh.
Anyway here are five clips from the first movement of Barber's Violin Concerto. There are a lot of nice moments for the clarinet, the orchestra, and of course for the violin. The first clip is a little solo I played. The second is a duet with the violin soloist. Then comes a clip of a really nice moment with the woodwinds doing sort of cascading, echoing things, leading into a lovely theme played by the full orchestra. Next comes another duet clip. Then the last clip is of the ending of this movement, which contains some lovely melodies for everyone, and another pretty duet for me and the soloist. It was a lot of fun to play this piece, and I'm glad to post it here.
Oh yeah-- by the way... My sweetheart,
flippantmoniker was there to hear this concert in person. I love him, you know.
When you hear the clarinet, that's ME. This recording is not professionally released and was given to me for FREE. It's my recording of me. 100% mine.
Instrumentation:
Full orchestra. I'm playing principal clarinet.
Violin Concerto by Samuel Barber.
Clarinet solos performed by ME.
Sound clips were editted together by ME.

*flops all over the place* I loved this concert! I was just about to ask if this was the performance that I'd attended. *listens again and again to his sweetypie's solos* I just feel so .. classy .. being with you :) I'm gonna slip this one into my play list for happy music surprise time at work :) *big, arm hugs on*
Glad you liked it! About the full recordings- first, they're pretty long, so I don't know if they will be within the size limit for FA submissions. Second, I try to just post clips of myself- not for reasons of arrogance or ego, but because with so many people performing in an orchestra, it's hard for me to claim it as "my creation" unless it's primarily my playing.
Check your notes, though- if you're interested in hearing it, I'll try to work something out for you to hear the full recording.

Aha. :3
Yeah, I always feel kinda weird when posting recordings. I assume since I'm participating in them, and they're already free to hear on the internet, I don't see much harm in uploading them.
If they're long and/or have movements, of course, I cut them up into individual movements (or if they're still too long, either slightly reduce the quality or cut it up into two parts).
I should probably give more credit to the production company who does our recordings, though.

Well the way I look at it, I can claim as much ownership of these pieces as anyone- the conductor, the 2nd trombone, the 4th-seat cello, even the recording engineer- everyone just played a single role in what happens.
I didn't mean to criticize you. I know you post full versions of performances. I think the difference might be, as you say, if yours are already free to hear on the internet, that surely means posting elsewhere is okay. For me, these recordings are solely available to the performers and have never been released, online or on disc. So, since it's kinda iffy... that's why I cut them up and just post the sections that feature me.
