The huge black dragon Melanie is built for living in hazardous terrain. Her scales are resistant to the strongest of acids and toxins, her stomach is ironclad and able to digest nearly anything, her horns and spikes serve as natural armor against all but the most powerful weapons.
She was born to a clan of black dragons who were vicious and bloodthirsty. As a rite of passage, these dragons were expected to allow ancient dark spirits to inhabit their bodies. Before her initiation, she fled the clan's territory, and became a wanderer in search of a new destiny. She knew she wasn't like the others.
