A scene from a story in my head involving Charlotte and her backstory.
Dragons in this world when they come of adult brooding age, they are given an egg of a particular stone, based on the color of the dragon, (ruby = red, emerald or Malachite = green, amethyst = purple, etc)
Charlotte was preparing for her ritual, as she went to forage in the forest, a shapeshifting demon came into her den and stole the ritual egg. Without it, she could not perform the fertility ritual to get the blessings from the great dragon goddess Tiamat. She will have to find this demon and get her emerald dragon egg back! However with no clue who he is, or what he looks like, or where he went, Charlotte in a moment of total hopelessness went to the altar in Tiamat's temple, and broke down sobbing for a long while...
