Honestly it just makes you feel so bittersweet when you see the whole story, especially his point of view on it.

Also, I've no idea why Toby Fox gave the option NOT to hug him. What kind of monster (metaphorical, not actual monsters) would NOT hug him?!

I think that's the main running point of the game. Yeah, there's three linear paths to the story, but each one has some sort of branching paths that lead to the same goal. Like Toby gave the player ONE LAST option to take everything they've done so far and just throw it out the window and statistics would show that at least one person chose that option. But my point is it's not just what you're playing, it's how you play it and I believe that's why the game took off the way it did.
