Hello everyone my name is Felix and today, I want to share with you my top ten villains in all media. The world of anime, manga, cartoon, comics, and video games is extremely expansive with a dozen different series that anyone could pick up and enjoy. So, fans will no doubt become attached to a hero they like, but every good hero needs a villain and this is true for anime as for any other form of entertainment like video games. Villains can really make a series great as they are essentially the sole source of tension and conflict in any media. A great villain is equally as important as the show's hero, and the villains in the list are a testament to that.
Everyone has their most memorable and favorite Villains in all media with some people loved them and some people hated them, but this list was not made to know who is the most popular or the most strongest. I made the list on what villain I think impact the universe of game, cartoon and anime. This is a list of villain from all media which mean, I will include villains from video games, cartoon, anime, you name it. Also this is a list about villains, so evil organization, anti-heroes and eldritch abominations are not going to be included on this list.
Only one per franchise, and only from games that I have played, and cartoon or anime show that I atleast watched, or at least villains that I have some knowledge. So, if you not see your favorite villain here... Then you know why, but enough talk, let's start the list.
Oh! Spoiler alert!
==============
10. Emperor Mateus from Final Fantasy 2: The Final Fantasy series has produced some of the most iconic villains in video game history. Characters like Kefka, Kuja, and Sephiroth are a testament of that. There are a few reasons for this level of affection from fans. With that said, not all villains are created equal and some of the villains in the Final Fantasy series stack up better compared to the others. Some becoming fan favorites while others are forgotten. Most people will chooses Kefka, Kuja and Sephiroth on their list, but for my list I choice Emperor Mateus from Final Fantasy 2. On the surface, Emperor Mateus might not appear terribly interesting villains as he is your classic RPG villain, having little backstory or substance but simply wanting to take over the world. But what making him to be on the list is that, he is a constant threat throughout the game despite almost never showing up. His actions and their effects essentially made him the responsible for more character deaths than any other villain of the series.
He was the first villain to totally kill off not only one party member, but four. He successfully destroys many cities in the world. He wipes out an army of dragon riders by poisoning their water supply. He was responsible for the deaths of many of the characters in the game, including the family of the four main protagonists. If all of that wasn't bad enough, Mateus almost takes over the entire world in the begging of the game, striking fear in the people of the entire planet as everyone else were hiding or too afraid to rebel against him. Some kingdoms, like the kingdom of Fynn, Kashuan and Deist, resist, but they are quickly subdued with his demonic army. The survivors member of the kingdom of Kashuan, founded the Wild Rose Rebellion, and during the course of the game, you are helping the rebellion to find a way to fight back, while avoiding Mateus' demonic army.
After the Liberation of Fynn, the Wild Rose Rebellion acquires the Ultima Tome, but by that time the Emperor has summoned a giant Cyclone and crushed the towns of Paloom, Altair, Gatrea and Poft while Emperor Mateus oversee the destruction of Fynn in the top of his fortress. The party makes their way inside of the fortress by summoning a wyvern to confront the Emperor once and for all. The Emperor Mateus initially assumes they are not important enough for him to fight, so he deploys several of his royal guard against them. After two units are wiped out, the Emperor concludes he may have underestimated Firion's group, and decides to dispose of them personally, claiming such is to be considered an honor. The Emperor is killed in the fight, and the rebels celebrates, but the festivities are cut short by a messenger reporting that the Dark Knight, Leon, has taken the Emperor's throne.
After breaking into Castle Palamecia, Firion's party confronts the Dark Knight and tries to convince Leon to stop, but before anything can happen Mateus comes back from the dead now as the Emperor of Hell a lot more powerful. He attempts to kill the rebels and Leon, but with the help of Ricard they escape but Ricard is killed. Mateus raises the Palace of hell and the rebels manage to go through hell and kill the emperor destroying him for good. Even though Emperor Mateus's motives aren't interesting, you can't deny that he at least is a solid villain in Final Fantasy 2 which is why he is in the number ten spot.

9. Gul'dan from World of Warcraft: To tell you the truth is that, I've never played World of Warcraft, but I'm familiar with its lore thanks for people like Nobbel87. I was never into the whole Warcraft thing until Mists of Pandaria. No other MMO has had a greater impact on the genre and the entirety of video games as a whole quite like World of Warcraft. With its rich lore the Warcraft series is a game jam-packed with villains, but of all the most disreputable and horrendous Warcraft villains worthy of this list is not other that Gul'dan. Gul'dan is perhaps one of the most evil, powerful and equally fearful villain that the heroes of Azeroth as to face. He has been shown to be diabolical, manipulative and ruthless who takes delight in being evil, and all because he possesses an unquenchable thirst for power. For him, nothing else matters in comparison to his quest for power, so he will damn anyone, enslaved anything, and betray anyone in hopes of acquiring power.
He was willing to manipulate friends and foes alike to the point that he has no regards for the well being of his fellow orc, or any other race if he could gain power. He sold his own people to the Burning Legion and voluntarily corrupted his people into a bloodthirsty Horde which he secretly controls. And with the help of Medivh, he brought the orcs into Azeroth starting the long bloody conflict and hate between the Alliance and the Horde. A conflict that will affect everyone on Azeroth for the rest of their lives. And all this is because, he was born crippled, weak and deformed, which made him a target for constant mockery and abuse ever since his childhood, sparking his thirst for power. Unlike some of the Warcraft villains who have some motivation behind their action such as. They believe that their actions are necessary while some of them were manipulated or corrupted by something. Gul'dan knows what he is doing is evil, but he just does not care.
For him, nothing else matters in comparison to his quest for power, he was so powerful that he was able to raise the Broken Shore from the bottom of the ocean during the Second War, though, he was overcome by the shear number of vile, mad demons found within the Tomb of Sargeras. This is, of course, original Gul'dan, his alternate universe counterpart has the same backstory with very major differences. But regardless which Gul'dan you are speaking, he was a villain to be fear.

8. Myotismon from Digimon Adventure: The third Big Bad of the first season of Digimon series, who proves far more dangerous than the others villains. Myotismon is one of the mighty and dangerous villain that the Digidestined as to face. Unlike most villains in Digimon series who are defeated by new evolution, Myotismon proved far more dangerous than the others. He easily able to overcome any of the Adventure children's partners with ease, even if they have a new evolution. Though he's not as powerful that the later villains, he was the first major villain that the heroes haved trouble to defeat, showing us that for here and now things are going to be hard for the heroes. This guy was practically toying with the heroes for most of the episodes, frequently had them on the ropes, and introduced Anyone Can Die into the series by being the first to murder characters as proved when he killed both Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon without mercy.
Myotismon is a sinister Digimon with a sadistic streak as he treats his underlings awfully, having taking Gatomon in when she was young and abusing her until she was a loyal and a killing machine for him to use. Myotismon treats his followers as nothing more but expendable thing, and punishes them if they fail him. Even if someone is completely loyal to him and competent, Myotismon will certainly kill them to gain power or simply because they are no longer useful for him. He was undeniably the creepiest villain in the first season of Digimon, he is not only powerful, but he was also the longest lasting villain in the entire Adventure series. Delighting in the torment and death of others, Myotismon has no mercy or sympathy for anyone, or even regret for his actions.
With a near-unparalleled sadistic streak and power, Myotismon proved he was one of the vilest villain that the Digidestined as to face.

7. Sir Crocodile from One Piece: You know, I once was never into the show One Piece, but that was my old ignorant young self. But after years later, I decided to see how good the show was and I'm surprise it was not that bad. I surprise that the show is full of plenty strong and fearless characters, but I decided to start to watch One Piece during Alabasta Arc. So for my pick on this list, I choose the first major villain that introduced me to the show. Sir Crocodile a former Warlords of the Sea is one of my favorite character from One piece. Crocodile is the first legendary pirate that Luffy has to face on his journey, and he didn't become legendary by being a pushover. Even though Luffy was able to pretty much breeze right through East Blue villains with minimal difficulty, Luffy didn't stand a chance in his fights against Crocodile.
Sir Crocodile was able to effortlessly defeat Luffy, who up until this point was thought to be pretty much invincible because again. Luffy pretty much breeze right through East Blue villains with minimal difficulty, but Crocodile was the first major character that Luffy couldn't defeat. This pretty much making him so far the only villain that took down Luffy in a fight making him a major challenge for the protagonist to overcome. Crocodile is a ambitious and ruthless Warlords of the Sea that tried to start a civil war in the country of Alabasta in order to take over the prosperous country and create a utopia. But his true motive for doing this was to gain access to the poneglyph, special hieroglyphs, that lead to the location of Pluton, a powerful battleship that said to have enough power to conquer the world.
However, he was betrayed by his former partner, Nico Robin, and was defeated by Luffy during their third fight. As a result of his true identity being revealed, the World Government stripped him of his title and sent him to Impel Down. Crocodile instantly gets a high spot on this list for being the first ever villain to defeat Luffy not just once, but twice! And for be the villain that introduced me to the serie of One Piece.

6. Albert Wesker from Resident Evil: Like World of Warcraft, I never played a Resident Evil game in my life and why? Well... Is because I'm not a big fan of horror games, especially those that rely on jump-scares. Back in the day, I easily get scared, so not surprisingly I never played a Resident Evil in my life. I do watched a couple of Resident Evil walkthrough in YouTube. But years later, I decide to play Resident Evil 4 my first Resident Evil game that I played. Despite all that, I familiar with Resident Evil lore, so for my list I choose Albert Wesker. A expert manipulator, Albert Wesker has been a thorn in the side of Chris and Jill for years always causing trouble for everyone from behind the scenes. He was a man who sought power and domination over the entire human race, all for his own gain. To this end, he was affiliated with the Umbrella Corporation, as one of its most promising researchers, and at the same time participated in illicit activities by going undercover as an officer in the R.P.D. and the leader of S.T.A.R.S. in Raccoon City.
Wesker has been heavily involved in the franchise, looking to exterminate the human race, so he could speed up the human evolution through biological research and experimentation. So... Along with Umbrella, he organized the destruction of S.T.A.R.S to get combat data on the first generation T-Virus B.O.Ws. He injected himself with a special serum before face his death at the hands of the Tyrant. Only for the serum to revived him giving him superhuman strength, agility and regeneration, but at the severe cost of the loss of his humanity. He caused the outbreak on Rockfort Island by attacking it, leaked the location of Umbrella's last remaining bio-weapons facility to Chris and Jill, stole all of Umbrella's research data from the servers, released Umbrella data to get the company shut down, sent Ada Wong to Spain to recover Las Plagas, and finally tried to conquer the world, starting in Africa, with Uroborous virus.
Even after his death in the hand of Chris and Sheva in Resident Evil 5, Wesker still has some influences, especially on his illegimate son, Jake Muller, who unknowingly carried his father's dark legacy. Combine with his cold personality, cunning, and grand ambition, Albert Wesker proves that he is the villain to be fear.

5. Shredder from TMNT 2012: The series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been around since the '80s created as a satire on the dark and gritty superhero comic books of the '80s. However, they became one of the largest kids franchises of the decade with the insane popularity of their Saturday morning cartoon show. With hundreds of toys, multiple comic books, and three feature films. After the hype had died down, the TV series was rebooted in 2003, with a fourth film released in 2007. The Turtles' popularity was once again restored in 2012 when Nickelodeon aired a new CGI cartoon and announced production on a rebooted film series. Everyone knows the story of the Ninja Turtles 'four pet turtles and a rat (or man, depending on the version) are covered in an mutagen that transforms them into humanoid creatures'. Named for famous Renaissance painters, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael learn Ninjutsu from their Master Splinter. They defend New York City from the villainous Foot Clan, alien invaders, and other mutants, so they have faced off against a number of enemies throughout their history. But by far the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' greatest enemy is not other that the Shredder.
Cold, cunning, and extremely ruthless leader of the Foot Clan, and the vengeful arch-nemesis of Splinter and the Turtles. This incarnation of Shredder is a man of pure evil who has allowed his hatred to utterly consume his humanity to the point that he betrayed the human races by assisting the Kraang in invading New York, so he could fulfill his quest for vengeance against Yoshi/Splinter and the Turtles. He is so completely focused on revengers to the point that he will go to any lengths to achieve his goals, even as far as forging a business-like alliance with the alien Kraang who wishes only to see humanity to be wiped out or be enslaved. And he was willing to let the Triceratons to destroy the whole planet Earth, including himself in the process, just so he could strike down Splinter.
His immense capacity for hatred seems to stem from the fact that he has an inability to accept his own failures, and instead, he needs to blame someone else for his problems. Just like when he blames Splinter for Tang Shen's death, despite he was the one who initiated the assault that took her life, and blame Splinter for Karai's mutation, despite he was him who put the girl in danger in the first place. He is utterly convinced that Splinter is the cause for all the suffering and misfortune that he endures, and considers anyone linked to Splinter to be just as guilty. He believes that anyone who has contributed to his misfortunes should pay with their lives. In the end, Shredder's personality is due to the fact that he truly believes he has done nothing wrong and everything that happened to him is Splinter's fault and not his own. His driving motivation is revenge, and it's crystal clear that he will do anything to kill Splinter, and is capable of anything no matter how evil, dangerous, dishonorable, or immoral it is.
This Shredder show that hate is a powerful emotion, but it can also corrupt you and consume you. Making him the most evil version of the Shredder next to the Utrom Shredder who was willing to destroy the Multiverse and the very fabric of reality out of his hatred for the Turtles.

4. Frieza from Dragon Ball Z: When people talk about Dragon Ball series, it's usually the heroes who get the spotlight after all. They are the ones saving the world, they are the ones that we follow for hundreds of episodes, and they are the ones that get a lot of the cool moments. There is just no way the franchise would be as huge as it has become if you took out the likes of Goku or Vegeta. But at the same time, heroes are a lot less interesting without competition and that's why every great hero needs a great villain. And the series Dragon Ball created a lot of interesting villains, and there were a lot of villains introduced during the long run of the Dragon Ball series, but some bad guys stand out more than others. So for this list, I chose the first major and powerful antagonist from Dragon Ball Z series. Frieza is probably the most iconic villain in DBZ history maybe not the strongest villain in the series but at his time, he is the strongest with all the qualities of a super villain. Strong and Merciless.
Originally thought to be the strongest being that ever was in the universe, Frieza destroyed planets and civilizations without breaking a sweat. He was also the one to destroy planet Vegeta, and he was the villain to be fear. This dude he was pure evil, a cold-heartless being, ruthless, loves to kill innocents, sadistic, torture his enemies before he kills them. He was literally fear throughout the galaxy, committed mass genocide multiple times and even the Kais fear him by name alone. He was truly terror of the Galaxy and with a power level of 120,000,000, make him a villain to be recognized.
He was evil to the highest extreme and he loves to kill out of sheer joy, he is the only one who could destroyed Goku if it wasn't for the fact that he loved toying with him. He's a galactic overload who's in charge over 79 or more planets and who's also the leader of the planet trade system. Frieza's impact goes beyond just being one of the franchise's most powerful villains, he's the one who drove Goku to become a Super Saiyan. He has the most developed backstory of any of the villains between his history with planet Vegeta, and his family later being introduced into the series.
He may not be the strongest villain now, but Frieza is the reason for everything that happened in Dragonball. Both he and his imperial army destroyed planet Vegeta and reigned terror throughout the universe before trying to gather the Dragon Balls in pursuit of immortality. And while he might not have succeeded, he continues to live on in various incarnations throughout the many Dragon Ball series. Like him or not, Frieza set the bar for every villain in the franchise, and as great as some of the others were, none of them redefined Dragon Ball like he did.

3. Naraku from Inuyasha: Born from the fusion of a crippled human bandit tended by Kikyo, and a horde of weak demons. Naraku served as the primary villain in the Inuyasha series from beginning to end as he was the responsible for most of the characters' misfortunes, including the death of Kikyo, the sealing of Inuyasha to the sacred tree, Miroku's curse, and the death of Sango's family. And all because he seeks to obtain and corrupt the Shikon Jewel a powerful jewel which grants whoever possesses it with immense power, so, he will damn anyone in hopes of acquiring the power of Shikon Jewel. Naraku is one of the most devious villain that I have ever come across. He is, quite literally, a master manipulator, and basically has everyone, dancing upon the palm of his hand. He touches countless lives directly and indirectly, and seems to revel in being cruel, destructive, feared and loathed. He is calculating, intelligent and sensible enough to pose terrible threat, and has the bloodthirstiness and power to back up his claims most of the time.
There is a sense in the series that he is constantly in control manipulated everyone from the shadows. He does everything with cold and frightening precision. Everything was part of his master plan. His action made EVERYONE to hate him, even his own servants hate him. Basically, EVERYONE in Inuyasha has a grudge against this guy. Everyone knows who he is, and everyone wants him dead. He's also a rather persistent villain as he always came back despite the number of times someone killed him. He always plans ahead, anticipates his enemies moves, and he shown to use his cunning and power to be in the top during his fights. He is a perfect example of a down right villain who uses and manipulates other to do his dirty deeds. He may not be the strongest anime villain, but with his cunning and power, Naraku is still a major challenge for the protagonist to overcome making him a force to be reckoned with.

2. Master Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts: For a series that combine the dark and edgy of the Final Fantasy series with the lighthearted, often silly characters from many of Disney's most famous animated feature films seems ridiculous, if not impossible. But here it is, as plain as day. Kingdom Hearts is an action adventure game that's sure to appeal to fans of both Square Enix and Disney. When I first got into the series, I use to think that Kingdom Hearts was action, adventure story about a boy going on an adventure to save the universe, but as I got more into its lore and the story continue. I see that the story of Kingdom Hearts is more than that. And despite Disney's colorful and cheerful influence over the Kingdom Hearts series. The story of Kingdom Hearts is full of tragic moments. Especially with character like Roxas, Xion, Terra, Ventus, and Aqua. And all these suffering and misfortune that those characters endured is all cause by a man named Master Xehanort!
The Keyblade Master Xehanort is the central antagonist in the story of Kingdom Hearts especially as the central antagonist of the "Xehanort Saga", the first part of the Kingdom Hearts series. His actions and their effects essentially made him the responsible of all the suffering and misfortune that everyone in Kingdom Hearts as to go through. And he did all that all for no other reason than to simply satisfy his own personal curiosity about the secret of Kingdom Hearts. The heart of all worlds, and a source of great power, so the lives of innocent people and even his closest friends meaning absolutely nothing to him. To this end, he is willing to put whatever he pleases on the line or destroy anything in his way. He is the overarching catalyst behind all of the horrific events that have threatened to destroy every words.
From instigating the Disney Villains’ hunt for Kingdom Hearts to the creation of the dark Vanitas to pit friend against friend, and teacher against pupil. Xehanort is the mastermind behind it all. He is cunning, and manipulative and has no regard for the lives of others, including those that care for him. Xehanort is a master tactician who always has back-up plans in case his schemes fail. For over a decade he has been the root cause of the many hardships the characters of Kingdom Hearts has endured. There are not many villains that have as impressive of a resume as Xehanort, and he truly is one of video games’ most impactful villains.

1. Malefor from The Legend of Spyro: We've covered a wide of inimitable villains on this list. From a men seeking to remake the world through biological research and experimentation. A men who was corrupt by his own anger. A men becoming a demon, and a men who was willing to sracrifice everyone in the name of knowlenge. We have some of the foulest adversaries to ever grace the medium of anime and games. So it only stands to reason then that the final villain of this list, would have to be a particular type of villain to reign in hell above all others. And is not other than the primary antagonist of The Legend of Spyro trilogy. Born in ancient times, Malefor was the first and an very talented purple dragon. On his young, he mastered many elements like Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Electricity, and many other elements none thought existed. Thus, Malefor was the first dragon to be able to use more than one element, which other Dragons were restricted to only one. Believing him to be the dragon that is going to usher them into a new age, the Dragon Elders willingly taught him how to master these elements.
However, as time went by, Malefor became arrogant and over-confident, and his power and knowledge grew far beyond what was expected, as did his lust for power. Fearing his lack of restraint, the Elders banished him to exile. Filled with hatred for his own kind, Malefor abandoned his true calling and embraced the darkness. He took on the title as "the Dark Master" and recruited an army of Apes, teaching them how to artificially harness the power of the gems, which are the Dragons' lifeforce. It wasn't long before he sought more and greater power, waging a war against the Dragon race. His actions sent the world spiraling into chaos, ruining the peaceful reputation of the Dragons in the process. Eventually, Malefor was defeated by the Ancestors and confined within the Well of Souls. While his spirit was imprisoned in the Mountain of Malefor, his essence was trapped in Convexity. He sought to escape the mountain he had created, and while Malefor manipulated a plan to do so, his army was still able to carry out his orders.
Despite his defeat, Malefor was not vanquished permanently. Though greatly weakened, and in non-corporeal form, he still has some influence as an ominous evil presence. After centuries lying dormant, he was able to know about of a promised prophecies of the birth of the next Purple Dragon. Feeling threatened of another dragon with powers equal to his own, he sent his Apes Army to raid on the Dragon Temple to destroy the dragon eggs in order to prevent the birth of the next purple dragon, but Spyro's egg was saved by Ignitus. Meanwhile, Malefor also needed a dragon who was born on the Year of the Dragon to open the portal in Convexity that served as his prison, and Cynder's egg was captured while the other dragon eggs were smashed by the Apes. Cynder would later be corrupted by Malefor's powers, turning her into an evil dark dragon to help him spread destruction throughout the world and becoming a general to the Apes.
During the first and second game of the trilogy, Malefor never appears in person, but he is only mentioned several times, and he remains a consistently terrifying, profoundly unsettling presence. In the first game, Cynder leads Malefor's armies in a war against the Dragon Realms, defeating the Dragon armies and forcing them underground. In the second game, Malefor's loyal servant Gaul the Ape King gathers his armies in the Well of Souls and prepares the Dark Master's return in the Night of Eternal Darkness: a lunar eclipse which plunges the entire world in shadows, during which all of the malevolent souls imprisoned in the the Well of Souls are free to roam the mountain. But despite the best effort of both Spyro and Cynder to prevent Malefor's return. Malefor's plan was successful, and with Spyro and Cynder frozen in crystal, he is now free to destroy the world without interruption.
Once free, Malefor did not wasted time and began to covered the entire world in darkness, spreading plague and misery everywhere and resuming his war against his fellows dragons while causing the world to fear the dragons. During the course of the thrid game, both Spyro and Cynder manages to defeat Malefor's new army. But, Malefor contacts the heroes and reveals that their victory was meaningless; as the attack was simply meant to keep them from interfering from his real plan. He released the legendary Destroyer a massive ancient monster that has the ability to destroy the world. The monster has begun to travel around the world, leaving behind a fiery trail called the Belt of Fire.
In a desperate attempt to stop Malefor's plan, the heroes try to stop the Destroyer, but despite their best effort. The Destroyer continue onwards, so without any other option left, the heroes decide to confront the Dark Master himself. Spyro and Cynder set out to face him, but Ignitus has to sacrifice his life to allow them to escape. After going on a long journey, Spyro and Cynder both made it to Malefor's Lair where they confronted the villainous dragon and find him waiting for them. Both Spyro and Cynder engage a tremendous battle against Malefor, but despite their best effort. The Destroyer has just completed his journey and the world starts breaking apart, but nevertheless, they continue to fight Malefor, and their battle drags them to the planet's core.
There, the evil dragon declares that he is eternal, but the Spirits of the Dragon Elders appear before him and seal him away for good into the core of the world, ending the Dark Master's malice once and for all. What make, Malefor to be in the number one on the list, is than, he is without a doubt the most evil villain in the entire Spyro series. He sent the attack on the Dragon Temple, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of baby dragons. He corrupted Cynder making her into his mindless slave, and made her to kill countless dragons under his influences. His actions result in the deaths of countless lives, and he attempted to destroy and recreate the world, not caring about who died with it. So like, Master Xehanort, Malefor do not care for anyone, as long he could achieved his goal, so he will damn anyone without a care in the world. And like Frieza, Malefor was pure evil, a cold-heartless being proving that he was one of the vilest villain that Spyro and Cynder as to face.
And unlike the others villains who are defeated by the heroes. Spyro and Cynder did not truly defeat Malefor. They just knocked him to the crystal where the spirits of the Dragon Elders appear and seal him away for good into the core of the world. So, without a doubt, Malefor take the number one post on the list.

10. Emperor Mateus from Final Fantasy 2: The Final Fantasy series has produced some of the most iconic villains in video game history.
