I have always been a believer in a good story. That a good story, the written word, has the power to motivate, and inspire. My contribution to this community is completely based upon this love of stories, and their power and purpose. This is one of those stories. Yes, by technical definition, it is a 'short story'. But it still clearly conveys its message of what the 'holidays' should really be all about. Friendship is one of those transient things, that can not be quantified or tallied. It is truly the richest of gifts. And this story shows it amazingly :) Thank you for this story, for illustrating the importance of friendship.

And thank YOU for your eloquent response. I've been lucky to have some really good friends in my life. I've never deliberately persued one like Victor did, but I've always believed that a true friend is, as you said, the richest of gifts.
