A fly I caught last fall. I also made this pic last fall before realizing just how difficult it is to run Dipterans through a taxonomic key (god, what a nightmare...). After some tears, I found that this one belonged to the family Syrphidae. I didn't use a microscope during the first half of making this picture, which makes me kinda sad since I found inaccuracies I could've easily avoided had I used one from the beginning.
