Janice Bon has always challenged gender roles. Growing up in her small Wisconsin hometown, boys were supposed to be physical and strong, while girls were dainty and frail. Especially if you weren't a canine, big cat or any other female with claws and fangs. But, Janice never wanted to back down. She wanted to show the boys of the world, whether they be lions, bears or wolves, that a hare could compete with the best of them and be aggressive when needed. She started boxing at the age of 12, to help her smaller and younger friends fend off bullies. Her parents thought it was just a phase when she would go out to the playgrounds and tackle the boys in football, or try to wrestle with some of her bigger friends. But as she got older, she not only started participating on sports teams. She was actually pretty darn athletic and would help them win.
Unfortunately, this didn't always go over well with the opposition and some would take exception to her prowess, leading to confrontation. Little did they know, that she actually liked fighting just as much. One day during her senior year of high school, her school's hockey team traveled to play a road match against a new school that had been transferred to their district. In the middle of the game, a fight broke out, pitting Janice against a male arctic fox. Fighting is not an uncommon occurrence in the sport of hockey, but many were surprised to see a hare pummel the fox into submission and even more shocked when they discovered the rabbit with a short haircut was actually a female. One fan who took notice was an executive for an all female boxing organization known as the Ladies Boxing Alliance (L.B.A.). When the hockey game ended, he met with Janice and her family to ask about her interest in the opportunity to join the ranks. He even gave her a nickname. "Ice" for finding her on the hockey rink and for her cool demeanor. Delighted by the news of other females who were passionate about fighting and high physicality, she jumped at the chance, signing a contract for when she graduated from school.
She quickly learned, however, that her skills were not the main attraction for the L.B.A. Required to wear skimpy bikinis and bop around in front of hordes of drooling males, she discovered that her abilities didn't really matter. She was scouted for being a pretty girl who wasn't afraid to throw a punch as opposed to a feared puncher who just so happens to be pretty. She felt defeated, locked into a contract she didn't like, with nowhere else to turn. Several months later, the C.F.A. was announced. It sounded like the exact thing she wanted the L.B.A. to be and more. She used the money she made from a second job along with her fighting dollars to buy out her contract, risking everything for a chance at the C.F.A.
An old pic I commissioned of the blue bunny boxer, Ice, by an artist I met on deviantart many years ago, named Alexlapiz. Here's a little more backstory on her and a sweet pic to accompany it. She will have more scenes in the story at some point also! Hope you guys enjoy!
