it's not really a court. plenty of knicknacks style themselves as royalty, but mom is only ever mom
ok technically her official title is still "seamstress supreme" but you just call her mom
these are just knicknacks who came back home for one reason or another for a bit
she's always surrounded by knicknacks, but they're just there to hang out and chill
but Task Basket can ONLY be serious. she basically contains the Serious of the entire species i think

Initial thoughts:
1. Damn, but Fiddle Widget is gigantic compared to everyone else in the room.
2. Surely Fiddle Widget hasn't passed into myth for the average knicknack living in the Cotton Labyrinth.
3. (Pet Hypothesis) Meadoe and Bad Boy made free people and adversaries the old-fashioned way.

Fiddle Widget was always pretty big during succession, but after the world was made she kinda liked being Big, and now creates herself between 10-20+ feet tall, changing size and redoing her whole body over when she's bored
every knicknack knows mom because every knicknack is hand-made by mom, but the world is huge, and even though knicknacks have left the cotton labyrinth in large numbers and gone to live in the greater world, most people don't really think about fiddle widget on an average day. for many people, fiddle widget is a vaguely remembered name, a religious side-character. of course, they say she makes the knicknacks, but how true is that, really, you think? every single one? unlikely! well, maybe that's true, but maybe she isn't one of the ones who made the world. she's probably a successor god, like ardent-argent or fulcrum or straits (that bitch) and the knicknacks just think really highly of her.
free people and adversaries are the product of a cosmic romance from before the beginning of time, with Meadoe Rule as the mother who impregnated Bad Boy, the father, who gave birth to them and spread them across the world on his motorcycle. free people were also created by the shared consensus of every surviving heir sitting down and working things out together, and adversaries were created by Aiax and Trackless Gait to be generic bad guys, but Bad Boy turned them into cool counter-culture rebels instead because designated bad guys were dumb and cruel, he argued. these two stories contradict one another but are both true, which is something you can do when your world doesn't try too hard to pretend it isn't a story

Before I even got to this series of comments I was beginning to wonder on a question... to what extent can a knicknack self modify? Specifically in the choice of materials in its own construction. Like if a knickknack wanted to make itself out of wood or clay. Or to have the hands and face like a porcelain doll? Or be a stuffed beaver full of sawdust instead of the typical polyfill.
