Could be an artistic choice to highlight them, or perhaps they are reacting to the sulfur in the air. Krakun breathe a sulfurous atmosphere that is toxic and poisonous to their slaves, but they sometimes compromise on the air mixture to directly address their servants. Even then, it is highly uncomfortable for the enslaved species.
